I have a CZ-52 with a loose pin and I think that I need to peen it to keep it in place. Hope this is not a dumb question, but what tool do you use to peen a pin or screw? Do you need a specially hardened tool?

What does the pin do?
This would help get you an answer.

A tool to peen is about anything that can be hit with a hammer or put under pressure. Knurling may be an option but a pin is normally to hard.
Why is the pin loose? You may have a problem that needs fixed worse then the pin.

I know I didn't answer your question, but this is one of those that needs more information.

I was not sure if I need a specially hardened or shaped punch. The pin goes through the frame and works loose after firing a few rounds. I have two CZ52's and the second one appears to have had the pin peened into the frame. It has not worked loose upon firing. What I really need is a way to keep the pin from working loose.

As alternatives to peening the pin, you could:
1. Try Loctite to hold it in place
2. Slightly flatten one end of the pin; the oval pin in a round hole thing:)
3. Stake it in place

Greg

You'd need a hardened punch, generally a centerpunch with a good sharp tip.

Agree with Greg. I would try chemistry (Loctite, nail polish, raw linseed oil, glue) first. If that did not hold, I would go to his no 2 and distort one end of the pin enough to make it a press fit into its hole.
