Looking for a 6 shooter for a friend of my fathers. Has to be in good working condition with no rust or pitting. Brand doesnt matter.

The guy is cheap so i doubt anything over $200 will interest him.

I've been looking at cheap 6-shooters a bit myself. Two things I have found. The very cheapest ones have brass frames and brass framed revolvers can only be used with light loads. It's about an extra $40 to get a steel framed revolver.

Cabelas has some for under your $200 limit.

Stay away from Colts especially that have brass frames. Brass stretches and does not last. I started out cheap, wore out a brass frame Navy, but that gun got me hooked and I wound up getting a Ruger Old Army. Spend it now or spend it later. :D

I have a brass frame .31 pocket Remington. It was 65 bucks from Cabelas a dozen or more years ago. I figure the combination of the top strap and the fact that it's just a .31 and don't hold a lot of powder in the first place, will take a while to wear that one out. I don't shoot it a lot, anyway. That Navy was a .44, I know, blasphemous, but I didn't know any better. I doubt it'd have lasted much longer in .36, though. If I get another Navy, it'll be a .36 and it'll be steel.

If you keep the loads down in the brasser's they are fine. If you want more smoke shoot your Walker.

I've got an Italian Remington New Army that I'll sell you. The trigger is about 1 1/2-2 lbs, and I don't feel like tinkering with it.

i found both my revolvers at the pawn shop for $100 each last June. one was a un fired new army 44 pitta. steal frame. and a spiller-burr 36 cal, brass framed like new. the new army is a great revolver, i shoot it several times a weak.easy to load and clean, cyl drops right out. thats my favorite fetcher.PS the colt WALKER is 1 bad dude. cant wait for mine + he can come hear and join the WALKER club. whats better than that i ask you?:what:

Cabela's has a brass frame revolver that looks real good. I just ordered the 1851 round barrel version of the Colt Confederate revolver for under about $175.00 shipped.
I was a little leary about the brass frame but people are saying that they are getting good performance and accuracy with them with no ill affect to the frame with sensible loading practice.:)

I just got the 1858 5 1/2 inch 1858 and it's the cats whiskers ( a blue eyed Siamese at that, It's that pretty.)

I shot 25 grains behind a .451 round ball and it was real nice and authoritive in bark and no doubt, bite.:)

Cabela's has the deal!

NOthing is wrong with the brass frame guns. As long as you treat it like a brass frame gun. i have two of them with about 1000 rounds through them. you just have to treat it like a brass frame gun.

Wholesalehunter.com (http://www.wholesalehunter.com/productlist.asp?subcategory=MUHA&Q=P_100_200&keywords=%24100-%24200) has several Traditions brass framed revolvers in the $150 - $163 range.

Models covered include 1851 and 1860 Colts in .36 and .44 calibers, and the 1863 Pocket Remington in .31 caliber.

The 1851 Old Silver .44 cal steel frame here (http://www.wholesalehunter.com/product.asp?productid=39997) is screaming my name. :scrutiny:

Frontiergander, I've got an FIE brasser w/ a new cylinder and nipples that I recently "sold " on GB. Seems like the guys a deadbeat bidder. If the deal falls through, think your guy'd be interested? Here's the auction...look at the winning bidders feedback !@%$#@ !!!
