I just traded an AR lower for a Remington 870 Express Super Magnum... was a DPMS lower and LPK with a 4 pos butt stock...
Just curious if it was a fair deal...
Thanks

The only thing not good about this deal is that is lacks sufficient pictures.

Sounds like a fair trade (at least for our local prices) assuming the 870 is like new.

If the 870 was in new condition a fair trade.

I would take a whole 870 Express (in nice condition) for an AR handle and stock any day. I think you did well to get in the trade before the AR supplies bounce back.

It's an 870 Express Super Magnum... 2 3/4", 3" and 3 1/2" magnums... It's in very good condition...

I'm considering trading it for a standard 870 or Mossy 500...

Are You CRAZY????:D
That gun will do it all and shoot it all. Not to mention all the aftermarket stuff out there to trick it out with, if you're so inclined. And...oh yeah... I think you did good.

LOL.... no, I'm nt crazy... 3" magnums hurt enough... I don't think I'll need the 3 1/2" option... this is just for shooting clays in the back yard for fun...

(LOL) I'm glad you didn't take offense, that was my sense of humor showing. But seriously, you don't have to shoot heavy loads in it. The three Supermags in our family see way more 2 3/4" loads than 3" or 3.5". We just like having the capabilityof firing anything you drop in it. You might do better selling it outright, then buying a shorter chambered model rather than trading gun for gun. Supermags usually fetch a little more than the shorter chambered models of equal quality, around these parts anyway. :)

You can shoot regular 2 3/4" through it you know. Most people do just that and only use 3" shells for Turkey or Duck/Geese. I think you would be crazy to downgrade, makes no sense. Unless you traded up for an 870 Wingmaster.

You have a fine shotgun there. Keep it.
Forever. They can last far longer than we.
I've reached an advanced age with lots of empty hulls on my backtrail, and none have yet been a 3 1/2" 12 gauge load.
But, it's nice to have the option, just in case they do find a huntable population of Pterodactyls someplace and open a season.
Meanwhile, your Super Mag will eat shorter shells with aplomb.
Enjoy.....

(LOL) Well put Mr. Mc C. And the key word is option I like versatility in a shotgun. If I had to limit myself to only one shotgun it would be the 870 Supermag. It gives you this with no sacrifice in weight, reciever length, length of pump stroke, or barrel interchangeability (even though they may be of a shorter chambering, they still work on the Supermag reciever) Not to mention the host of optional accessories that will fit with no issues. No reason to downgrade, just shoot what you're comfortable with. Who knows when a flock of Pterodactyls or Carnivorous Snow Geese may attack.;)

Thanks.
I've yet to need a 3 1/2" shell, but life is uncertain and having the option is good.
