Dust covers are your only option, and these are a poor choice for magnified optics because the dust cover moves around a bit as the gun fires. I'd recommend, instead, getting a lever lock mount such as the UTG 978 mount. That will let you quickly release the scope if irons are desired.

I think the prior poster meant to say that dust cover mounts are NOT your only option. They in fact are your worst option never buy a dust cover mount. Get a UTG quick release side mount or a russian made BP-02 side mount. I would not go with the ones that are so high that you can use your irons as they defeat the purpose of a scope. Either use a scope or use the irons make a decision and do it properly not a halfway decision that works kind of OK either way. The quick release mounts are good because if the scope malfunctions you can quickly remove them.

yeah i knew what he ment.. but thanks for the advice... i didnt want a mount where i could use both at one time i wanted a mount where it was low enough to use the irons with the scoped detached.. but a quick detach mount will serve the purpose just as well...

The high russian mounts are not even worth it, take a look they are ridiculously high. They mount the scope like 6" over the bore. The low BP-02 is arguably the best AK scope mount you can buy.

I'd pile up mags before I worried about a mount. Master Molders are $15ish and don't require a bullet guide. Make sure you are 922 legal.

whats so differnt that the mm mags that the bullet guide is no longer needed... and im not dueing an all out conversion just enough for hi-caps and a scope mount... how many us parts would i need to be 922 compliant and would a us made scope count torwards this

Scope mount does not count. I would google 922r for the compliance parts that can be counted and the total number needed. A USA made mag counts as 3 parts but most do no like relying on mags for compliance parts.

Don't fret, 922 enforcement is almost nonexistant. I can only think of one incident, and it was during some sort of raid on a guy's illegal 'arsenal'.

Not saying don't do it, but it gets overblown quite a bit.

BTW you posted on the other forum as well, so check out Kalinka Optics. Lots of options.

Eastwave and Tantal also are good sites for AK optics stuff.

Mr. The driver; where in Satans' bathroom are you getting master molder mags, for saigas, for 15 bucks? Please, I need copious amounts... I mean that is cheaper than used E. german Weigers, and you still have to dremel those badboys, and add a bullet ramp.

Yeah, CTD is a riot.

They'll sell the MM mags for $15, but a box of Wolf FMJ runs $18. They're on crack.
