Got a new CZ-82 from Aim, Feels great in the hands and the finish looks pretty good.

However, after tinkering with it a bit, I've learned that even with the safety engaged, the trigger can still be pulled and the hammer will fall. My friend got one with me when I ordered but they don't have this issue. One thing I have noticed it that the safety works properly when the slide and slide spring are removed from the frame, not that it does me any good. But its just an observation I made. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

Hey, did you know many of the parts in the current build CZ 83 are
interchangeable with the CZ 82 ? Although the 83 is
chambered for the .380 ACP aka 9x17 and the 82 is
chambered for the 9mm Makarov aka 9x18 the
magazines for the 83 can be used in the 82 is what I have
read.

You could call CZUSA look for the service center
contact info.:

or you could call Ghost Holsters/Products - a CZ Custom
Shop and get an estimate for the fix

I have a CZ 75B so that's about all the advice I have,
never having fired an 82 or 83, but I'd like to try one.
especially an 82, how are the finishes on your and your
buddies examples?

The Picture doesn't do the pistol justice, you can see a couple little scratches but other than that it looks decent.

Not familiar with the 82, but the only thing I can think of is that the safety lever might have a tab that is supposed to engage a notch in the slide, locking the slide in place when the safety is on. That is the only way I can think of the slide making a difference. Basically the slide hits that tab and moves the safety lever off a little, allowing the sear to move more, allowing it to drop the hammer. The sear to safety lever engagement would have to be marginal.

With the safety on, and the slide removed, pull the trigger and see how much the sear lifts. It's not unusual for the sear to lift a little, but pay attention to how much sear to hammer engagement there is. Basically, how close does the sear come to releasing the hammer?

Some of these were in good shape and some are certifiable crap. Sorry your gun has problems. Probably just worn out parts. At least it is repairable if you choose to do it. These are complicated and have a lot of parts but you can do some gunsmithing, (part replacement) yourself if you feel adventurous.
