It's that time again - National Ammo Day is Nov 19!

Check out Kim du Toit's National Ammo Day (www.ammoday.com) site!
What is the purpose of National Ammo Day?
The purpose of National Ammo Day is to send a message to those who would seek to disarm us and to support U.S. ammunition manufacturers.
The goal is to put BILLIONS of rounds of ammunition into the hands of law-abiding citizens, all over the country, in a single day.
Let the politicians, the gun-grabbers, and the international community know that America is proud of its Right to Bear Arms and we will not be disarmed.
The gun/ammunition manufacturers have been taking the brunt of all the frivolous lawsuits brought by the gun-grabbers. These gun-grabbers are trying to put these folks out of business. Well, not if we can help it! And we CAN help it by buying ammunition on November 19!
How can you participate?
As a law-abiding citizen (and allowed to buy ammunition in your state or locale), we participate by purchasing ammunition on November 19: 100 Rounds should do it. Handloaders are counted by purchasing bullets and powder.
You might also want to let your ammunition supplier know of your intention to purchase ammunition on November 19, so they will have plenty of supply on-hand to meet the demand. A form is available from the National Ammo Day website, or contact your local ammunition supplier directly to find out if they have setup any special procedures to handle all the anticipated sales.
You can also assist by spreading the word about National Ammo Day. Send e-mails, faxes, and make phone calls to let your friends and family know about November 19.
There are other ways to show your support if you are unable or not interested in buying ammunition. On November 19, send a letter, a fax, or call your local representatives and let them know that you support the Second Amendment and the unhindered rights of law-abiding citizens To Keep and Bear Arms.
In addition, you may choose to donate to (or join) a gun rights lobbying group and let them know you are doing so in support of National Ammo Day. These organizations, such as the Second Amendment Sisters, NRA, and Gun Owners of America (to name just three), would benefit from your contribution.

Didn't have much in the ammo budget last year, but did buy a "small brick" (400 rounds) of Federal's American Eagle .22LR brand, and 40 rounds of 7.62x54 for my Mosin-Nagant M- 44.
Plan to pick up MUCH more this year.

Haven't you ever heard the old saying: "Ammo will get you through times of no food better than food will get you through times of no ammo"?

I'll bet this doesn't even do a minor blip in sales.
It got no coverage in the media that I know of last year.
But it wasn't because I didn't do MY part!
The point isn't to surge ammo sales or production; it's to SHOW UNITY.
Buy a six month supply in one day. If any media covers this event, imagine the impact it would make if the camera showed bare shelves at Wal-Mart and the manager saying "We were totally unprepared for this; people were lined up five-deep at the sporting good counter all day to buy bullets".
Buy a case or more of ammo. Urge your friends to buy a case.
Bullets are like California gubernatorial candidates: You can never have too many.

So how would you go about doing a bulk ammo purchase online, and have the total count toward the National Ammo Day total? Most of the major online ammo vendors are (or should be) aware of AmmoDay. But just send them the link and ask that they report their sales to Kim. It's certainly in their best interests to support it.
In fact, that's a good idea. Let's email all our favorite online ammo vendors and tell them about AmmoDay and suggest they support it.

Either I missed it in the past or have forgotten it.
Is it always on 19 November? If it is not on a fixed date, it sure would be better if it were on a Saturday.
19 November is a Wednesday and I doubt if I can make it then - - unless web purchases count?

Kim DuToit started the thing last year. He picked November 19th because it's his birthday (for the heck of it). This year, he's trying to spread the word earlier and farther, and it's November 15th through 23rd, so you get two weekends. Web purchases count; everything counts.
The goal, as I read it, includes flexing some purchasing muscle. Having gun owners all buy ammo in a short period of time gives all kinds of folks, from marketing types to politicians, a sense that we matter. It's probably a good idea to communicate to the people you're buying it from that, "Why, yes -- I AM buying it now because it's National Ammo Day."
Mike - could ya see yer way clear ta buyin' a hunnerd rounds o' .22LR? ;) It's fer a Good Cause. :D
(note: I expect to go heavy on the .22LR myself; I'm way broke now)

I have sent inquiries to my local "Sporting Goods Stores" to see if they will be promoting "National Ammo BUYcott" day. also provided them with the link

and reminded them that I will be buying much more if I see a return on my $$ spent with them.
Sent ???'s to Dicks Sporting Goods, Dunhams Discount Sports, and Gander Mountain. Will post replies, if any. Galyan's has just opened a store here in Greater Cleveland, but haven't been in yet.
{Store in is Legacy Village, a new "mall' in one of the Eastern Burbs of Cleveland, Lyndhurst, I think} Mall has over 3,400 employees, but less than 3,000 parking spaces. Soooo, I haven't been in Galyan's yet.

I'm heading out in about an hour. I'll be buying:
-a 500 round brick of .22lr
-100-200 rounds of .22lr CCI Mini-Mag
-100-200 rounds of .45acp Winchester White Box Value Packs
-and a box or two of .41mag (so I'm prepared when my GunBroker gun comes), some .41mag bullets, maybe some additional brass (a box or two of ammo is only 50-100 pieces of brass, I'm sure I'll need more than that), and some more powder (what I have isn't really suited to .41mag).
I'll probably be shooting up all the .45 and most of the .22 today though because I'm taking my MkII and 1911 to the range.
