Just bought a S&W snubby 38 for $150. It is in great shape and just wondered what the estimated date of Manuf. was and any other info I might be able to get. Think it is a model 37. Says airweight on it. Serial # J948xxx. Thanks in advance.

about 1982. It is a Chiefs Special(all steel Model 36) Airweight, Model 37. Munufactured 1951 to current. If the year I stated is correct it is NOT rated for +p ammo. The price is quite good if in the condition described.

Congrats on the purchase. I got one quite a few months back and they are nice guns. I put a Tyler T-grip on it and it helps the grip quite a bit. FWIW I use Federal 110 gr HS in mine and they seem to work well.
