going to be loading about 200 rounds of 243 for my uncle. does anyone know of any loads that have worked well for them. i no that every gun shoots everyload different, but i will not have the chance to 'build' a load and he will be using them in two different guns, his and his wife's.
he is going to be using sierra game king 100 grain bullets and most likely imr 4895.
open to other powder load recommendations.

I really like the 87 VMAX bullet, I have a 55 grain Blitzking that shoots well but the 87 is the most accurate and with the VV N560 powder I can get 3400 fps and it seems to buck the wind very well. I have also tried the 87 with IMR 4350 and I think Reloader 15 with good results, but not as good as with the N560.

I hope their rifles have a faster twist than 1in10, otherwise those long boattail bullets may not stabilize.
I recommend Win 760/H414 for powders or IMR4350 or H4350.

http://www.orchardphoto.com/h29zo70.jpgIf the barrel twist isn't faster than 1:10, you probably won't get the best results from 100 gr. bullets. You should probably stay in the 90 gr. or less range.

Every cartridge can be loaded with a bunch of different powders but I've found that generally there are 1 or 2 powders that give optimal accuracy with a given bullet weight. So, if you wish to get optimal accuracy, you should probably pick a good bullet and then pick the powder that has been shown to give optimal accuracy in that particular cartridge.

If you're going to load 200 rounds, it would seem that the best approach would be to load with optimal components. Also, if you're going to load for someone else (generally not a good idea by the way) and can't shoot your loads in the guns they're intended for, you are very handicapped. I would strongly advise going no higher in powder charges than in the lower half of recommend charges. It would be best if your uncle would let you test your handloads in the guns they're intended for.

Unless he is lucky enough to own a gun marked "244 Remington" you won't have to worry about the twist.

I think 42grs of IMR 4350 is the classic 243 load with a 100gr bullet. If you use a Nosler partition a 1gr reduction is a good idea.

My best load is with 95 gr. Hornady SST's and H-4350, FWIW.

I have good results with either IMR 4831 or IMR 4350 using various bullet weights from 87 to 100 grain. Depending on the rifle, accuracy can be under 2inches at 100 yards. Byron
