This name could be my wife or me I frequently read out loud to her and am forced to post her replies also. Don't tell her but, she has a sharp mind.

This website is run by a female THR member. The Cornered Cat (http://corneredcat.com)
While THR does have mostly men, there are indeed a number of women.

Welcome Diane49
Since you post here on Handguns, General Discussion
perhaps you could post your experience with same.
Lots of knowledgeable members and most try to stay
on the High ROad of Mutual Respect and better to ask tahn think I
don't to seem stupid. I didn't know this was run by a
female - cool. I'm on the S&W forum and there are some
very acive female posters - one which has a great amount of
knowledge about S&Ws and Colt/1911s - I've learned a lot.

There are a lot of experienced and smart women who post often here on THR. You will likely get more responses from them this evening.
Welcome! (Also lots of experienced and smart men here too. :) )

Yes, NJ laws suck. I love Pennsylvania for their laws, just moved a few months ago. I walk in, pick any gun I want and after NICS check I'm gone.

Welcome, I am in Monmouth Cty if you have any questions feel free to send me a message. NJ laws are wacky but once you learn the technicalities they are not as repressive as some other states.
I am starting to notice a trend in NJ gun owners on a few forums. It is nice to see.
My wife is not on the forrum, but she is a shooter.

Welcome to THR and for what it's worth: Women seem to be naturally better shots than men.
Don't ask me why cause I don't know. But I've watched them at the range while I'm working and they are. The women seem to do better when the BF/husband isn't around also. I don't know why either.

Another old wive's tale.
Welcome to The High Road Diane49. My wife can outshoot most of the guys I hang with. Which says more about them than it does her.

1. women are not naturally better shots, but they become better shots faster because they listen to instruction better without pre-concieved notions of how to shoot
2. they do better without the BF/hubby around because they're (the BF/H) not there to "help"...it's like you "helping" the plumber or car mechanic
at least this has been my experience as a shooting instructor during our classes

I have a feeling there are a lot more women on this forum than most of us know. (and I mean a lot) I was told once many conceal the fact they are women so as not to be harassed or talked down to. (but not on this forum)
Welcome to the forum Diane49...

Diane, I've seen many posts that are worded in such a way as to give away the fact that they are women.
What I think might be common, though, is that a lot of women are afraid to be taken lightly in these types of forums so they have usernames that don't easily identify them as women, and they don't intentionally give themselves up as such either in their posts.
Just know that you're not alone, and (thankfully), there are a lot of women who are gun savvy which is as it should be.
