I'm looking for a carbine load for some 180XTP's. I hear the Lil'Gun helps keep the pressures down and the velocities up. The load data for 180gr (nos. part.) is 13-15gr Lil'Gun pushing 1279-1422 ft/s. I'm weary of heavy loads but my questions are. Should I stick with a standard primer? or go mag primer? I would love to find an nice hard hitting round but I don't want to max out my 1894cs with pressures.

I load that bullet and powder combination and use magnum primers with it. It's a nice load in the carbine and I get no high pressure signs with the maximum load. I also use Lil'Gun with 180/185 grain cast bullets with a gas check for the carbine. You'll like the load, and it hits with authority.

Hope this helps.

What do you think of slipping that load into a 6" GP100. Will Lil'Gun burn out quick enough for the length. I know AA#9 will do okay but in the GP but I never used Lil'Gun. The data shows the pressures are okay but is the short burn time has me wondering. I guess I could try it but I hate the mess of unburnt powder.:uhoh:

my GPs like lil`gun loaded to the top end under the 180 xtp .
it don`t work when down loaded !!!
stay in published data & you`ll fair fine . i`m with you though , i think it works better out of a longer barrel.
