Letter to FN

Here's a copy of the Email I sent to FNH regarding the High Power. If you don't want to see the Hi Power go the way of the Dodo Bird I ask you to please Email, or write a letter to FN in Belgium.

To Whom It May Concern,

It has come to my attention that you are going to stop manufacturing the High Power.

I would strongly like to ask you to reconsider this decision. In fact I would like you to consider making the High Power under the FNH label and importing it to the United States, instead of under the Browning label.

As an American I recognize that the High Power has never had as big of a following as the 1911, but for those of us that are actual shooters and connoisseurs of fine handguns the High Power has held a special place in our hearts and in our holsters.

Despite my Email name I am a law enforcement officer that is lucky enough to carry a High Power as my off duty gun, and I feel blessed to be able to do so. In my opinion you would be doing yourself a great disservice if you discontinued the High Power.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

BikerRN

Look at S&W, Colt and other companies re-introducing their "classic" lines. I would hate to see FN discontinue the High Power. IMHO it's one of the better handguns out there.

Ideally I'd like to see a "classic" High Power, a Tactical Model with a Rail and a polymer version too. I think there is still a place for the High Power in today's world. If you agree, please let FN know.

At this time it's a rumor, but it's from a good source. I will attempt to verify the rumor, but all indicators that I've found lead me to believe that this one is true. :(

Take care and stay safe and thanks in advance for the help.

I love the BHP and have several. However, they have to be pretty slow sellers at the price point that they reside. It's hard to convince somebody to buy a $850 BHP when it's sitting next to another double-stack 9mm that invariably will cost less.

If FN can't get the price to be competitive (e.g. $650), then I can't see how they can sell enough to make it worth their while to keep the line open.

If FN stopped putting Browning on them and marked them as FN, like the rest of the world, that would be a $150 - $200 savings right there.

Browning has always treated the High Power like a Red Headed Step-Child. Personally I'd rather have one marked FN, although I own two Brownings. Look at the 1911 since it's inception. Today it's easy to find a 1911 with improved sights, trigger and a Rail. Why can't the High Power retain it's origin, like the 1911, yet change with the times?

I like the way you think Biker, I'll email or send a letter to FN.

The BHP is just an iconic handgun and I think that even at an $850.00 price point it's a bargain.

You just can't compare blue steel and walnut to a polymer pistol in my estimation. (And I own both).

Anyway, consider another email/letter sent. :)

BikerRN, just curious, why would you write FN under your screenname and not your real name? Doesn't this negatively influence the weight they may give your letter?

I wrote them under my real life name that Momma and Daddy gave me when I was borned. :D

Proof of your statements would be nice before you tell people to spam the managing director of FN.

I believe Mr. Camp has already done what I did as well.

This rumor is one that people more knowledgable than me in regards to the High Power believe. It's not a SPAM campaign as you say, but rather a "Don't delete an old friend" campaign.

If this offends your sensibilities, too bad. I don't want the only viable Single Action Autoloader choice I have to be a 1911 or nothing.

I just picked up a new one the other day. My Dad gave me a Mark III that I love but I always wanted the standard. This discussion kind of reminds me of the Toyota Land Cruiser. My wife likes to drive them and there have been rumors for years that Toyota was planning on phasing out the American version. Same issue, very high quality and capability but at an extremely high price point in relation to the competition. Research showed this to be just rumors. How could Toyota phase out something so legendary? How could FN. Who knows...

I agree with BikerRN, FN should stop stamping Browning and mark them FN.

Here is a pic. I'm still in fondle mode.

+1 on both counts. The Browning roll mark does nothing for me -- it's an FN pistol, always has been, and the Browning firearms company is pretty much just a marketing device for FN anyway.

Being able to get a High Power from the factory with things like Novak sights, improved safety, and (heresy, I know . . .) a beavertail and light rail would be superb.

They should also be making a Detective-sized gun, and bring back the A5, and drop the BPS and start making the model 12 again, and...

How about do all that and keep the BPS too?

That will work too. I don't see why the BHP is not the 9mm 1911. More makers should be building them.

I have to admit, not a huge fan of the HP, but I would love to see them continue to be manufactured. Problem is, who would buy them? The sales just aren't there.
