but i just HAVE to be a nit-pick here

if that pic of gore was taken when it LOOKS like it was....

then he's doing something the "shrub" (GW bush) NEVER did, ie actually be IN or even NEAR a combat zone on duty.

and any of you who've served tell me that a pic like that of YOU could not exist. esp when you're doing what he is (adjusting the GI sling on his rifle).

that single pic sort of loses it's impact under those considerations,

the other two though are entirely valid :D

oh btw please refrain from trying to "teach me the error of my veiws" with regard to Gore, it won't work (i'm a registered republican and i voted agaist Bush, i have my reasons i do not wish to air them here), and it would degrade an otherwise nice evening for no reason...

I've seen that picture of Al Gore before. He's wearing a rucksack, but no web gear. A boonie hat, but no helmet. And he's wearing the rain parka, not a poncho. I had thought that the rain jacket didn't come out until after Vietnam, but I'm not sure on that one.

In any case, I don't know where Mr. Gore was when that photo was taken, but I highly doubt he was really going out into the field without his pistol belt and helmet.

That's great! Gotta love photoshop.

Oh and Detritus; I don't really care about your politics, but are you really defending pointing your rifle at your head? I really fail to see how Dubya's lack of service makes Al [I invented the Internet] Gore's unsafe rifle handling any better.

I don't think those pics were photshopped, Balog. That's what makes them so great.

Referencing the idiot Gore, when that picture came out a few years ago (or at least when it made the internet rounds a few years ago), there was quite a discussion that Gore-y dear was hardly the fighting GI. Rather, he was a reporter/journalist type. Always wondered what a journalist-type would be doing with a rifle, but thems was just the rumors.

Having been there doesn't necessarily mean having fought there. And not being there at all doesn't mean one is less of a patriot. Just a few morsels of irony for those who think in black and white.

And no, I've never pointed the muzzle at my head when adjusted ANY sling.

Those pics aren't Photoshopped.

The Gore one is a official US Army photo, taken in Viet Nam, where Gore had a cushy rear echelon photographer job for a few months so he could say he served. (Much smarter, but really no different, than what Bush did. Except that Bush got to fly cool jets, while the only thing Mr. Internet flew was a Brownie.) Examine it a bit more closely - it's not pointed at his head. Too close for my comfort, but not at his head.

The Rosie picture is from a movie where she played a cop. No worse safety violation than cops commit all the time.

The Feinswine pic is from a news conference about those horrible assault weapons.

Hmmm. Here's another point to consider on the Gore photo. "Safe direction". What does that mean? Well, it means that your weapon should be pointed in a direction where no harm would be done in the event of an AD. (Or ND.)

So, what if Gore really does have that thing pointed at his head? What harm would be done?

:D

I apologize, I wasn't clear. I know the pics are real and unaltered, I was referring to the ability to put them together with the captions [which I assumed was done w/ Photoshop].

nope not defending pointing a gun at anybody's head, but i also know that with the way cammera angles happen the gun could very well be pointed PAST his head (still not safe but better than AT his head)..

and plus i just get tired of "hey that guy's a Dem he MUST BE SATAN! AND the dumbest thing after rock slime!" type of BS on here (if i wanted that i'd go to AR15.com).

Gore was an army journalist/photographer type, we was sent into the feild as part of his duties, unless you are either A. a conscientious objector or B. an IDIOT you do NOT go into the field in a combat zone, esp one like vietnam WITHOUT a rifle!! one does NOT have to be a rifleman to place his or her life in danger in a combat zone, nor even a member of the armed services (Joe Galloway, qualifies there).

was gonna say a few choice words about WHY i didn't vote for Bush.... (other than, i do NOT beleive he ever, kicked the booze or cocaine, OR ever learned to read!) but that screed does not belong here.

WHY i didn't vote for Bush.... i do NOT beleive he ever, ever learned to read!

What is it with Bush haters and calling him dumb? The man has an MBA (first President to ever hold one) whereas his opponent quit divinity school, by most reports because he was on the verge of flunking out. And the "he only got in to college because of who his daddy was" argument cuts the same for both of them.

this MUST come from the mouth of one who knows little of the F-102 lol teh brownie was the better deal! :D (kidding of course)

the "Delta Dagger" was just plain Sorry as an interceptor, if not for the preceived need for "a plane right this minute" the airforce would probably ahve waited for the redesign that resulted in F-106.

oh and along the lines of the "what's so bad about a gun at gore's head..." maybe we would have been saved a bit of greif if GWB had ever had to eject while in a 102, don't think the seats ever fully had that nasty tendency to maim pilots worked out..... (seat was made so that "supposedly" the pilot would be protected from the windblast of a supersonic ejection, in reality the design tended to break or crush bones, think there was even an amputation or two....)

I've never heard that, but I HAVE heard that MOST Dems support socialistic policies including gun control. And I agree. Why are you hijacking this thread to bash Bush? I don't like him much either, but I don't go to threads having nothing to do with him [or presidential politics for that matter] and troll. You repeatedly say you don't want to get into it, then say such obviously inflamatory things as "He's an illiterate junkie" and "We'd be better off if he'd been hurt or killed while serving." Stop trolling and hijacking the thread. You want to talk about W? Start a thread.

I get the message in the poster. The self-proclaimed gun experts (as in we know better what's good for you) really don't know guns.

But I don't see how we can use this poster to send messages to the unconstitutionalist civil-right-violating gun-grabbers. i.e. preaching to the choir here.:uhoh:

The pics are good. Excellent layout, too.

Oh, and Detritus is also the name of a troll from the books of the wonderful Mr. Terry Pratchett. Just in case anybody perhaps needed some sort of connection.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think this was meant to spread the RKBA gospel. I think it was intended to mock the fools who are trying to rule us. And at THAT, I think it does a great job:D
