If you're interested in making your voice heard, go to http://www.wgnradio.com/ and vote on the "news click" on the right side of the web page. You can bet that Da Mayor has his minions hastily casting their votes against it. This poll will only be up for one day.

Of course it's not a scientific poll, but many people are swayed by the results of these things. John Williams, who is running this poll, has the largest audience of any radio station in the city.

Just by way of explaining why I posted this: John Williams, as fair a guy as you could ever hope to hear on the radio, had one of the legislative sponsors of the current concealed carry legislation on the air this morning. His questions were fair and I think he gave the legislator a chance to fully explain the rationale behind the bill. I left for work shortly thereafter, so I don't know if a contrary view was presented.

However, around these parts there is a very concerted effort by the political powers that be to "manage" the media by calling in favors . . . to flood stations with phone calls, vote in polls, etc. It seems to me that it is sometimes necessary to make a concerted effort to counter this type of tactic.

The current poll is split at roughly 59% in favor of concealed carry and 41% against, but a relative small number have "voted," so it could change if a concerted effort is made by the anti-gun pols.

Hmmmm. I just found this, a blog hosted by the guy who put this poll on line: http://wgnradio.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=39654&Itemid=465

He complains about the pro-gun crowd gaming the results of an earlier poll, but it appears that the anti-gun forces actually may have resorted to poll-bots that were posting up to 200 "no" votes per minute!

It's climbing in the right direction: 67% and change in favor, $32% and change against. The mayor had better get speed-dial if he wants to stem this tide.

Oh Dear.... :uhoh:

This will not be well received by King Richard the Second. First there was that upsetting business about the now-former governor, then people started asking questions about his stooge in Washington, and there are even problems with the most recent appointment to the U.S. Senate.

You people should be ashamed of yourselves.

LOL!

That Obamaforum (as someone already mentioned) is a parody, none of it is serious. It's a joke. It's not real. The posters there are made up characters. The posts are all purposefully over the top. I don't know how else to say it, yall are pretty gullible. ;)

Think of it as reverse trolling: the forum is the troll and those who come there out of seriousness are the victim.

Same concept here: http://www.landoverbaptist.org/

It's a brilliant idea really, I'd never heard about forums like this until recently.

Citation that this a parody,Mr.Brilliant?

I thought that it was fairly obvious that theobamaforum.com was a satirical parody?
ex1: http://www.mikehuckabeeforum.com/ - Read the posts, seriously, and tell me that it's serious. Look at the mast head: crosses, star of David, and a crescent and star crossed out. ;)
ex2: http://www.landoverbaptist.org/ - "Where the worthwhile worship. Unsaved unwelcome!" C'mon now, it's a parody of modern evangelicals.

like I said, I think it's a hilarious concept: usually trolls mess with the board, but in these cases they're troll boards and the people who aren't in on the joke get on and post thinking it's serious.

I just love your FHYB.

You're right, the site is a joke, it has to be. I went through and read some of the threads and there is just no way that people who are that completely stupid could manage to work a computer and post on the forum, unless they started making keyboards with ebonics.
