Scope mounting question

I recently took my Rem 700 VS apart to work on the trigger. When I put everything back together, I mounted a Leupold VX-2 4-14X scope using low rings. The bell of the scope was touching the barrel back by the receiver, so I reversed the front mount and now it clears ... by very little. About 1/8". Is there any problem with having the objective lens that close to the barrel? I shoot exclusively from a bench and don't do rapid firing.

shouldn't be a problem. scope on my 22 has just enough clearence that maybe a business card can slip between it and the barrel.

Plus, closer the scope is to the bore, the 'further out' the accuracy will be maintained.
