I just read a movie description of Runaway Jury. I had been looking forward to it since I realy enjoyed the book. And I've enjoyed all the other movies based on John Grisham books. Well the book was telling the story of a jury hearing the case of a family suing big tobacco for the death of a man from lung cancer {as I remember}. Since there have been several tobacco lawsuits settled around the country, in Real Life, Hollyweird has decided to make the movie about a Lawsuit against a company that manufactured the gun that was used to kill a man. Their arguement is that the firm knew the shop which sold the weapon wasn't following federal regulations pertaining to the sale of firearms.:banghead:
This ticks me off to no end as I was looking forward to seeing the movie.

I'm sure I'll never understand why a nation that loathes lawyers as much as America does spends so much money on books about lawyers.

Because lawyers are the best way to make 'redemable villians' in movies and books. Everyone hates them...unless they are either: a hottie, or fighting for 'Us'.
The grisham books never peaked my interested. One lawyer vs another, generally the 'good' one fighting for us or the hottie vs the slimeball one.
They're all the same in my book....just like politicians. Can't trust 'em.

Either way, it sounds like anti-personal-responsibility.
