I own one that I bought in the early 90's when Wally World was closing out their pistols. It has more rounds thru it than I can recall and I can not think of any problems I have had !! It is my current night stand gun.

I, too, bought one from Wal-Mart, in 1995 or 1996 (let me check my notes...). I had it until 2005 when I sold it to fund the purchase of a Sig P-226. I wish I had kept it. It was a fine gun, solid and reliable. Accuracy was decent, more than good enough for home or personal defense. I wish I still had it.

It is an alloy frame variant of the 5906, as far as I know. The 910 was sold with blocked 10rd mags ad the 915 was sold with the 15rd magazines.

The 910/915s sell for around $300-$325 or so in my area.

Great gun for the money, some plastic parts, yet superb shooter. I am confidant in my 915, that i carry it CCW.

The other side of the coin...

I bought a 915 back in 1989 (if I remember correctly), and it was THE worst jam-o-matic I've ever had the experience of owning. It wouldn't even feed ball ammo 100% and hollow points (Black Talons) were more along the lines of 80%.

Sent it back to S&W twice (excellent customer service, but they didn't get it fixed) and it still wasn't 100% or anywhere near it.

Had a 915 that I bought new in 1994. Owned it for about five years, and never had any problems with it. Fed every brand of ammo I put in it. I replaced it with a 910 stainless, which is very similar and takes the 59 series magazimes. The 910S has been just as reliable.

The 910 and 915 are the exact same pistol, with the only difference being the number stamped on the side. They just shipped with different capacity mags. They are both compatible with 59-series mags.

Help! Just tried to field strip a S&W Model 915. In trying to reassemble, I got the slide to the ejector projection, depressed it, slid slide to second pin, depressed it, got slide to last pin, depressed it and got slide just past last pin, but now, I can not advance or reverse slide. Any suggestions (besides "stick with a sling shot!")? Thanks, dahed
