I've got more than one!!
Read up on them, they are the best gun that Mossberg makes.
They compare very well to guns costing several hundreds of dollars more.
But, based on their reliability, value and demand prices have started to climb.
If you've got a good deal jump on it quick!!

I got one recently, the same combo you mention. I cleaned it well, put on the 18.5" barrel, and started shooting it.
It kicks an awful lot for a gas gun.
So far it's been a pain to combat load at the shoulder. Admittedly, part of that is basic unfamiliarity with this gun, and perhaps overfamiliarity with my preferred Remington 870. IOW, a lack of muscle memory. I tend (so far) not to push shells far enough into the magazine to engage the shell stops when loading in a hurry with the 930. That means the just-loaded (well, the just NOT loaded) shell pops back and lies on top of the lifter. That, of course, puts an end to loading until you cycle the action and clear the lifter so you can load another shell into the magazine.
Yes, it's operator error. Yes, more experience will fix that particular problem- that, and maybe trimming back the end of the forearm that protrudes back almost to the loading port a bit, as i've seen at least one other owner do (and yes, I wondered why he'd take a saw to a brand new shotgun, too). But it's a pain for old dogs to learn new tricks- which is why this old dog subjects himself to new shotguns from time to time. It doesn't pay to get into too much of a rut, after all.
And the 'button' on the side of the receiver which allows you to close the bolt on an empty gun? It also releases shells from the magazine. Sometimes when you want it to, as when you want to clear the magazine without cycling shells through the action- which is a good thing. Just push up the lifter, trip the button and click, there's a shell in the loading port ready to be removed. But sometimes it does it when you hadn't intended to do it, if you aren't careful when you handle the gun. Can you say "double feed?" I thought you could! "The button" sticks out about a quarter of an inch, and is unshielded against accidental manipulation.
Other than that, so far, there's nothing much to comment on re. the manual of arms for this one. Except for its taking an instant dislike to the same Fiocchi target loads that tie up one of my 870s for the same reason (failure to extract), it has run everything I've fed it just fine.
Did I mention it kicks?
In the course of playing with it so far, I added the same Choate magazine extension which AFAIK comes on the 930 SPX version. It works as it should and it's pretty unremarkable. I'm using the standard Choate clamp that came with it right now, but may substitute a Nordic Components clamp down the road a ways as an easy way to get both a light rail and a front side-mounted sling swivel stud on the gun.
I also added one of max100's "NOBs" (an aftermarket bolt handle- contact him at gunconnect@prtcnet.com ). It's a definite improvement over the stock bolt handle for faster, more reliable bolt manipulation. It protrudes far enough to get a finger or thumb on securely but not so much that it's a pain.
I'm hoping there will be a SideSaddle available for this one soon, if not I'll be looking to Mesa Tactical for an alternative. Far as I know they don't have a model for the 930 available yet, but i haven't checked with them directly.
Old dog. New tricks. Sigh. And mossberg isn't even paying me to do this... :scrutiny:

Mossberg 930 SPX here.
The Mossie's aren't such a secret anymore. At first they were being sold with very little mark-up because they were an unknown quantity, but after many positive reviews the dealers and sellers have learned that the market will bear a higher price.
I'll second just about everything said above and only add a little tidbits that I've noticed for myself:
When loading keep ya fingers off da pretty, shiny button on the side. All it will do is cause a double feed. Release shells from the tube with the bolt handle to feed, not the button.
- - If you do hit the shiny button (not saying that I ever did:rolleyes:) the bolt handle can be pulled out and used to lever the shell back into the magazine tube. If the lifter were cut a little deeper in the center it would help though.
If you like the way Federal LE132-00 buck patterns, and I Love 6-7 inch patterns at 25 yards, you'll find capacity reduced by one shell in the magazine tube. It seems that 930 tubes are just barely on the 'short' side and after adding up a half dozen Federal shells there's not enough length in the tube for the last one. Replacing the spring with a spring from a Mossberg 500/590 cured that problem and let me have a full 7 in the tube of my SPX again.
You can 'ghost load' a shell on the lifter of the 930, giving you a full tube, +1 in the chamber and +1 on the lifter. Or full tube +1. and the chamber empty for 'Cruiser Ready' carry.
