Okay so my dad and i went to a shooting facility about 4 months ago that has and outdoor shooting range as well as a skeet shooting feild, i really enjoyed it so just recently we wanted to go back again for another shoot, well going on their website i found out that it is closed due to zonening problems and they say that it will soon reopen. The problem is that i went searching around the internet and found out that it has been closed for a few months now. My questions is, how long do you guys predict it will take for a shooting range such as this to reopen due to the fact that it was closed for zoning problems?
P.S if anyone has any simliar stories that they want to share i would appreciate it.

I'm not an expert on zoning problems so I'm afraid I can't help you out.

Zoning may only be the beginning. The next step could be court. Not to rain on your parade, but it could be years or even never! We had a club near here that had a 200 & 300 yard range that was permanently closed when some developer built a subdivision behind it.

Same thing happened here. It really bent me out of shape because that range was close enough for me to walk to. The local PD used it, now they have to drive elsewhere for practice.

As soon as people started moving in, they started complaining that the noise was intolerable. The argument made during the City Council hearing was that they knew there was a range nearby when they bought but the Council caved in and ordered it closed. That makes twice it has happened here.

I even know of a farmer in a nearby county who was sued to stop plowing (made too much dust for a nearby school)and crop dusting for the same reason...a new, nearby subdivision. That farm had been worked by his family for 4 generations.

Just say NO to subdivisions . . .

Zoning disputes can drag on and on. Just find another range.

If I was that farmer I'd give up on the crops and turn the place into a pig farm. See how those subdivision people like that!
