Hey, I'm trying to date my Sig 220 based on the serial number, which is G 112XXX. It is Swiss-made with the rounded front and so it has no German proofs. Repeat, it has no German proofs, only two Swiss proofs. In other words, it is not a German-made 220, but rather a Swiss-made one (Montage Suisse marked on the slide even). Is there a resource on 220 serial numbers out there?

Honestly, I have found that Sigforum is that most there really don't know much about the history of SIG firearms beyodn the most recent tactical models and do a lousy job of answering questions. There seems very little combined knowledge on the history of SIG's, and while there are some very knowledgeable folks there, the odds that your post will be pushed down a few pages by chatter on other models and so lost in the clutter is very high.

While CZ Forum gets hardly any traffic, they are far better organized. Believe it or not, I have concluded the odds were better that it would be answered here.

What's really odd is that the 220 is such a well-known pistol and yet few folks know anything about its history. That is not a slam for the folks here, of course, just an observation. More seems known about the original CZ-75, which came out the same time but from behind the iron curtain.
