I bought a Ruger 44mag super redhawk several years ago. I have never really fired it much but the other day I got the chance to play with it a little.

The thing is, it shoots great, but the casings are hard to extract ... er I mean very hard to extract (they stick). I bought the gun used.

Any theories as to the problem?

The ammo that I was using is plain jane off the shelf winchester white box (not any hot loads).

Off spec chambers?
Cylinder metal flexing?

I would try another brand of ammo before I got too excited.

The "price-point" WWB may have soft brass that is expanding and not contracting after the pressure drops off.

If it does it with other brands of ammo too?
Could be the chambers need polishing.
(Try winding 0000 steel wool on a bore brush and running the chambers with an electric drill. That will knock off any tiny microscopic burs and slick'm up a little.)

Could be too tight chamber throats raising pressure.

Cylinder chamber flex is not a known problem in .44 Mag Red-Hawks. There were such problems with the .480 Ruger ones.

If it persists after an ammo change & polishing with 0000 steel wool, I would contact Ruger and see what they want to do about it.
