I need some help. I found a mossberg 500 with a short barrel and a pistol grip for $200. The guy is hard up for cash. Thing is, I would like to put a full size stock on it and leave the short barrel. How hard is it to change out the pistol grip to a full stock?

Hey!

One bolt. Just remember that you'll spend something around $60 on the butt stock. If you end up with a PGO shotgun, it is a change you need to make, but just make sure you're comfortable with the total purchase price for both parts.

Correct, if you plan on making the change be sure to think about the $50-100 you will spend on the butt stock ( depending on kind).

I got a synthentic stock from Mossberg last year for $42 including shipping. As mentioned earlier it is one bolt to change it out.

About a 20-minute job to change the pistol-grip to a regular stock, if you work very slowly...

There are 2 philips-head scews that hold the butt-plate on to the stock, then there is one bolt that holds the stock to the receiver. I don't recall what holds the cover on over the stock attatchment bolt on the pistol grip, though.

Yeah the two screws on the butt are long be sure to move the recoil pad back and forth.

I thought I had it screwed all the way down... and I didn't... Would have had nice holes in my shoulder if i didn't check lol.

Didn't take much long at all. you'll need a 1/4 hex wrench, A long flat head and a phillips head.

Pistol grip shotguns aren't fun with buckshot. Be careful.

I put a Houge stock set on mine. I don't remember what I paid but it wasn't much for both pieces.
I like it a lot.

200?

A new stock 50?

You are already approaching retail value of a brand new 500.
