Has anyone else had trouble with cases not lining up with their dies in the LAL AP. My #8 shell plate seems to be machined in such a way that it,s not cut deep enough to allow the case,(9mm) to enter the die properly.

Some guys will radius the portion of the shell plates to allow the cases to enter in easier.
I keep thinking I need to do that to my 45 plate but I think I figured out last night that I was having problems because of the indexing pawls. They aren't adjusted just right so they are causing my plate to not index every time.
I really just need to bite the bullet and send my press off to have it rebuilt.

Thanks Bobo but I don't think the problem is indexing. The case isn't going far enough towards the center of the shell plate to line up with the die. Hornady says they haven't had any other reports of this but they would check it out. Just thought someone else may have heard of this. Thanks for the reply. Hopefully someone else may have a thought on this.

Have you taken the shellplate off the press and cleaned it out ?
Sometimes powder grains can get lodged in the groove of the shellplate that the brass rim slips into, causing the brass case to not sit correctly in the shellplate, causing the problem you describe.
I use a brass wire brush and a bent paperclip.

The only problem I have had with my LnL is the shells won't always eject properly. I called Hornady and they sent me a new shellplate. That solved the problem. I have recently ordered the new EZject conversion kit. I'll give a report when it comes in.
