I've been looking around for a good reproduction Luger Holster for my 1939 Mauser made P-08 (think I finally picked the one I'm going to buy), and yet there are a few, likely VERY silly questions I'd like to ask RE: Luger Holsters/Gear.

Anyone have a takedown tool marked 1939 or know where to get one? I've found them Waffen marked and marked with a Mauser banner but not dated. (may just opt for the waffen marked)

Anyone seen a concealable rig for a Luger? (on the off chance some crazed yahoo like me ever decided to shoot IDPA with a Luger)

Best MFG of aftermarket magazines? I've seen Luger mags with aluminum bottoms as cheap as $25, wooden bottoms like $30.

I've also seen a brown leather 2 magazine pouch for sale at Sportsman's Guide.. what branch of service/time period is that?

Many of the repro holsters are good copies, and available for under $40.

I've seen a number of take down tools, but not a dated one. (No real reason to date or number them, as they were not really "matched" to the weapon. (The one that came with my captured 1938 S/42 had Waffenampt, but not dates. It had the original holster, and the name of the guy who "liberated" it scratched into the leather.... He was the cousin of a neighbor who inherited the gun.)

You can probably find a belt "slide" holster that will work with the luger.

Mine is a tack-driver, but it would be a tough IDPA gun. Malfunction drills will be something you'll need to practice -- as they're not easily cleared.

One Master-level shooter I know has won an IDPA match shooting a Luger. This is no small achievement given the fact that its SA and you are competing in the toughest IDPA divsion (ENHANCED SERVICE PISTOL) with only 7 (or maybe 8) rounds and horrid sights!!

The best mags I've found -- and mags are the weak point -- are those made by Mec-Gar. CDNN has them, as do others. Great mags at a reasonable price. (Around $20.)

Brown leather, I believe was common in WWI, and changed to black in WWII. My captured Luger (since sold) came with a black holster that had clearly been brown in an earlier incarnation.

I said I'd have to be crazy to use it in IDPA. I was just wondering about "other" holster options. I've seen an Uncle Mike's Leather rig for Ruger Mk1 Std that would work but little else.

If you feel you've just GOTTA try it in IDPA, look for a "Yaqui Slide" type holster. That'll be one of the fastest ones you can find. (The holster for the Ruger MIGHT work, but it won't be especially speedy.
