Government - original model with full-size frame and 5-inch barrel.

Commander - has full-size frame with 4.25-inch barrel

(Note - there are "pseudo-Commanders", i.e. the Springfield Champion, which have a full-size frame and a 4-inch barrel. There are also guns like the Springfield Compact, which has a shortened Officer's sized frame with 4-inch barrel. There is also the example of the Colt CCO (Concealed Carry Officer's Model) which has a Commander slide on an officer's frame.

Officer's - shortened frame with 3.5 inch barrel i.e. Colt Officer's Model, Springfield Ultra Compact

Defender/Ultra Carry/Micro Compact - shortened frame with 3-inch barrel.
