I just pick up a Winchester Model 70 in 308 and am wondering as to when it was made. Is there a web site that I can go to to run the serial number and find out it's age. The serial number is G133XXX if this will help. Thanks.

The G prefex started in 1968 if I'm not mistaken, but the serial number seems off for that. Check out www.proofhouse.com

Thanks. From this site it seems to be made in 1977. When to the range on Sat. it put 5 rounds of Winchester 150 gr Power Points into 1 1/4" group. I'm hoping to better that with some reloads but if I don't that is still a pretty good shooting rifle and I am very pleased with it.
