Precision Delta is Killing Me!

I know people are buying components like crazy, but....
I placed an order for 2000 .45 acp bullets from precision delta almost a month ago. Got a confirmation email. No mention of long waits or backorders. Two weeks pass and I sent an email inquiring about the order. Got a reply two days later "will be sent out in the next few days". Nothing for 10 days so I sent another email. No reply. Called and spoke to customer service - "I'll get your name, check on the order, and call you back". Nothing for two days. Call back again - "Your order will ship in a few days". Are you #@*&% kidding me!!!
I understand the wait, but the crappy customer service is too much. I don't think it's too much to get a straight answer the first time. I also don't think it's too much to notify a customer if an order won't ship for almost a month. Come on, Precision Delta, I had higher expectations. Your bullets better be worth the damn wait.

It's not crappy service. We are killing them with all the ordering. Be patient. They are frustrated as well.
Montana Gold is actually asking people to order LESS, so they can semi keep up with regular folks buying just enough to shoot, much less "stock up" on.

Did you not read the post? The customer service is what I'm complaining about - calls, emails, wrong answers. Whatever. You read what you want. I just knew someone would chime in with that response, eventhough the first line in my post reads "I know people are buying components like crazy..." and the last paragraph states "I understand the wait...". I really think people login to antagonize any post that is made.

I am sorry you think I logged on just to antagonize you. I was making a point. I guess I did not read the post thoroughly enough. I do believe my point is valid though. I will bother you no longer.

My order placed Feb 5 showed up on March 16.
It was worth the wait.
I asked them was there another weight bullet that I'd get better delivery on and got a quick message back saying they were out of everything.

Their site noted long waits.
My twoK 9s came about a month+ later.
Okay.

I've had nothing but good experience with Precision Delta - sorry that your experience was sub-par.
They clearly have been struggling to get things done and it's not uncommon for customer service to suffer as the workload increases.
In the end, tho, you'll be happy with the results.

I must be taking crazy pills. I don't know how else to say this a 3rd time: I understand the wait. I don't understand the customer service - no response to emails, phone calls unreturned, inaccurate information (shipping tomorrow then being told same thing two weeks later).
I consider forums a great resource to get information from real people about dealers/manufacturers/etc. I am not bashing the delay or their quality. I am partially venting my frustration trying to get straight info from them and informing others about my experience.
By the way, delays were not listed the day I ordered, nor are they listed currently (or I'm not seeing it).

I would also suspect that most of these suppliers are a LOT smaller companies than we envision?
More like mom-n-pop shoppes than a Ford plant for sure.
Their new order volumes daily are what they used to experience for a whole week, or maybe even a couple weeks/month? Max output is max output on any assembly process. I know when I recently e-mailed Lee Precision it took a couple days to get a reply which included an apology but did state that they are having a very hard time keeping up with the phenomenal volume of orders, calls, etc.

They were pleasant, kept me informed and in light of what is going on.... a month or less isn't so bad. Cabelas has had a primer order of mine on B/O for a month and a half, the week it was supposed to ship I received an email stating " do I want to keep them on B/O ? I called said yes, and now 4-5 weeks more. They were nice about it but that sucks

Exactly right. They are much smaller operations than you might envision (in every respect) and are simply over-whelmed and for the most part, over-tired. Many of the employees wear more than one hat and whether making product, taking orders, boxing, shipping, fixing a machine, answering the phones or email, etc., etc., there are only so many hours in the day and pushed as hard as they are right now, mistakes are made. This is precisely the reason many of the larger companies have stopped answering the phones or accepting orders...some, don't even take backorders at all due to the extra man-hours involved in tracking.

I have had the same problem. In the last response, they told me one of their lines has been down. Earlier, after delays, I ordered a thousand 9mm from montanna gold, and they delievered maybe two days late. So, now I am still waiting for delivery from PD. Order fom MG if you are in a rush.

I just checked Precision Delta's website. Their bullets are pretty expensive. And, as we've just learned, their customer service stinks. There's lots of suppliers. The guys at Missouri Bullet Co. are regulars here, charge a lot less, and will ship tomorrow. I've bought a lot of cast bullets from a lot of suppliers and have yet to see much difference between them. I now order based on price and service.

Expensive?? I've never found anybody with less expensive jacketed bullets.
115 gr 9mm FMJs for $68 per 1k shipped. Who's cheaper?
Both times I've called them, they've answered the phone. They also, looked me up on their backorder list, and gave me a time frame for delivery that was completely accurate.

I ordered 1000 bullets from Missouri Bullet on a Friday afternoon last month and had them on the following Monday. In an e-mail from them they stated they couldn't understand why all their competitors were having delivery issues.
To me, the small amount of extra work required using lead bullets is far outweighed by the reduced cost of the bullets. I don't mind having to wire brush the barrel occasionally.
There are other vendors but, for now, Missouri Bullet will keep my business.
All the Best,

jmahalek - I've had equally bad customer service from component suppliers lately. If I have to contact them a third time, I cancel the order after carefully explaining the reason. That helps them and it helps me. Then I find another source.
I own a small business. When my staff mistreats a customer, I really need to hear my customer's story directly. I cannot improve my service if I don't know the problems.
So that's my advice, friend. Call again, ask for the owner or another person high up on the ladder. Calmly explain why you are cancelling the order. Move on .

seems some posters are confusing the two bullet companies, Precision Delta and the guys that make only cast bullets, I had to wait 1 month for my order, that's not too bad nowadays. People were nice, apolagetic, and as helpful as you could ask. I think they are agetting an unfair rap.

Just checked P.D. prices:
9mm Luger 115gr FMJ 1000 $68.00
PDB-B-9-124-FMJ 9mm Luger 124gr FMJ 1000 $72.00
PDB-B-9-147-FMJ 9mm Luger 147gr FMJ 1000 $84.00
PDB-B-9-147-FMJ-TC 9mm Luger 147gr FMJ-TC 1000 $84.00
These are lower prices than anyone else I can find. No wonder a small shop is swamped.
They gained some notoriety supplying ammo to successful LEO competitors.
Now the whole world is emailing, calling, faxing or even shouting "where's my order!".

I placed an order a couple weeks ago. I got a call from them about 2 weeks after I placed my order. They said the bullet I ordered (124 gr FMJ 9mm) would be unavailible until Dec-Jan time frame, but I could have 115 gr FMJ in 3 weeks.
I satisfied that I got the call. Now I know what i'm getting into. Since I'm in no rush and am just starting to add 9mm to my list of calibers, I'm not in a hurry.

I switched to Montana Gold for 2K--they came fast, and decided to try the Zero JHP next--on order.
Just info: My first 1000 of MG 124gr CMJ came in small 100 pk boxes. These bullets had really good length consistency. Maybe 4/5% would show up while checking cartridge OALs.
My 2nd 1000 came in a bulk plastic bag, and there has been a high percentage (20%?) that varied as much as much as .006" to .008" bullet length. Way more than the first 1000.
Heh RF: I'll send you PD 124 FMJs if you'll send me Federal SPPs.:banghead:

My experiences with Precision Delta have been fantastic from a customer service standpoint. They have struggled to keep up with demand but I have never had any problem getting someone on the phone and when I do they are great to deal with. Besides, they can understand my southern english which is a big plus. Maybe try yes maam, please, and sweetie when you inquire about the status of your order.

Personally I think Ants has the right idea. Call, politely explain your problem, and cancel the order. There are way too many companies selling bullets to bother getting irritated by one of them.

I have experienced significant delays in delivery from PD. Sometimes, they have the bullets in stock and ship quickly. Sometimes, it seems that the production run is scheduled a ways out and I need to wait for a bit. The longest I've had to wait is about ten weeks.
I've simply learned to place orders in advance of being out/dry. Their product and their prices are worth it.

So I called on Friday. The phone was answered right away and the woman was very pleasant and eager to help. It seems the problem is with the 124gr RN. They're just not making them. 115gr RN (which I already had a pile of from Magnus) could be had right away. She confirmed, "We probably won't be making 124gr until January or February." She had to go get a planning sheet to tell me this, so they must be fairly well organized. At least they have printed plans!
I love their 124gr RN for my competition shooting. They feed well and they always seek out the A-zones. I'll certainly try them again in the future, but for now it's onto other vendors.

I ordered 2000 9mm 115 grain FMJ on 10/19 and I received them in the mail today, 11/7. A little under 3 weeks, I'm very happy.
I do have a question though. They aren't a very shiny color like the other FMJ bullets I have purchased and they appear to have an oily film that turns your hands almost black from handling them. Does anyone worry about the oily film, or do they removed it with their tumbler or some other way?

I never got an answer or couldn't find one on line either. So I just deceided to try it with a small batch of them.
They came out perfect, all clean and SHINEY.
