or better yet, 27.

The 17.

The RTF grip texture is :barf::barf: Coarse thank you.

However the Glock 19 and conversly the Glock 23 are better sizes all around IMO.

Tough one. I would take both in a heartbeat. But you gave us little in the way of your requirements for the weapon. PD? CCW? Range?
Both the 17 and the 22 shoot very similarly in terms of perceived recoil, but the 9mm is up to 60% cheaper per round to shoot. However, I really like the RTF...but I'd put a DecalGrip on the 17 anyway.
Touch choice, for sure.

Love me some RTF.

I carried a 22 for years, but a good friend of mine bought a 17, and I like shooting it a lot more, plus higher capacity. I think it works better in 9mm, that's what the frame was designed for.

G17. The original, and still the best GLOCK.

Get whichever caliber you want. Both great guns.

I like my G23 better than either... but I'm thinking of converting to a G19/9mm

You won't regret it. It really is the do-all handgun. I love mine, I take it to bed with me every night and...
ha ha not really, but I do love the thing.

I have 2 G17's and 2 G22's- so either one is a winner.

The Glock was never really designed to be a 40 S&W and there have been a bugs that needed fixing because of that. However, in 9mm the Glock is a forever gun, and in a stock format should be 100% reliable, just change the recoil spring every couple 1000 rounds or so.

You didn't say what you were going to use it for, but for defense 9mm is plenty adequate with proper hollow point ammo. Anyhow, it is cheaper.

Depends. I CC a G-27, and my full size Glock is a 22, so that I can use the larger mags in the smaller gun, should the pervebial SHTF. The G-17 is a work of art in its' function, accuracy, and releability, the G-22 is also a great piece, considering that you must never attemp to fire anything other than factory-loaded, jacketed ammo in it. It's a good choice no matter what you decide.

good thing to have 20 rounds in a pistol from factory ;)

glock-17 = 17+1
mag adaptor = +2

total = 20 rounds :)

G17 hands down.

I have a 22 and have no problems with recoil. I feel very little difference between my G19 and the G22. My 22 has been dead reliable and a pleasure to shoot.

I'm looking to sell my G22 somewhere down the road -- not because I don't like it, but just because I want some more variety in my collection and I'd rather hold on to the 19.

The 17

You could get the 22 and a 9mm conversion barrel and pretty much have the best of both worlds.

That said, a 23 + a 9mm conversion barrel gives you tons of magazine options.

March 27, 2009, 06:01 PM
i honestly think that both are outstanding and will serve your needs quite well. that said, i prefer the G22.

take a look at the G19/G23. Those are my favorites out of the Glock lineup. they are, to me, the best all around.

March 27, 2009, 08:55 PM
+1 on th 23 with a 19 barrel,if you shoot on a regular basis it's cost efficient.don't worry about the difference in recoil.

March 27, 2009, 09:03 PM
+2 on the 23 with 9mm barrel.

March 27, 2009, 09:09 PM
I based my own decision purely on the number of rounds available without a reload. The 17 wins.

March 28, 2009, 06:21 AM
i say get the 17, ammo is cheaper. and will allow you to shoot more.
