I hope I'm not raining on your parade, Winston. But I cannot find any info from http://www.benchmade.com on this dark star. How long ago was it discontinued?

No idea, but the logos and trademarks and such look legit, and you guys might like the design of the knife.

Dark Stars are definitely legitimate Benchmades. I got into Benchmades a couple years ago and Dark Stars were just phased out with in the last few years. So if you are looking at a Dark Star you are looking at a recent production, modern-quality Benchmade.
Off the top of my head, it's very possible they eliminated the Dark Star because of similarity between it and the Ares line. Comparing my Ares (732SBT, special run with the solid black scales) with the picture the blade style is almost identical and the handles are shaped very similarly (minus the star-shaped hole and other embellishments on the scales).
