Hi All, I just aquired my first match 54 Anschutz from a local dealer.
This gun was part of a Gunsmith's stock that was being liquidated by the family. Its a 1966 1413 without a couple of the fancy stock attachements pictured on the manual. I got the gun, a brand new set of sights from 1966 never mounted on the gun. The action was stiff and had no wear marks at all, the bluing and stock were perfect except of a couple small dings in the stock. Apparently the Smith ordered several of thes rifles and didnt sell this one, so it sat in his safe for 43 years until he died, still had the hang tags and everything.
The only thing missing is the plain buttplate, I have the hook one that is not in the picture. Anyone have a plain one they are willing to sell? It has the side screw that locks it to the dovetail (old design).
So anyone here like anschutz rifles??:)

The one and only time I shot an Anschutz I put a string of .22 LR rounds through the same hole at 50 or so yards. So yes, I imagine that, given the chance, everyone would like them.

Don't let it sit in a safe until you die.It prolly needs the old oil degreased with solvent and relubed with very light oil.

Yep the preservative grease was still on the bolt, and where it was exposed to light/ air had turned brown. So I took it out of the stock and cleaned it real good and relubed with FP10.

I have the hook buttplate but I am looking for the plain one that may have come with it. Its the old design with the side attachment screw. Anybody have a source or have one they want to part with??

I have the exact same model. Mac Tilton ( be able to help you with the butt plate. The origional plate I got with mine was made of rubber. It had become hard and slick so I made a new one:

I also didn't like the weight of the muzzle so I cut the barrel down to 20" and put a 10" bloop tube on it for a 30" sight radius. It shoots great.

Hi Master Blaster, where in DE are you located? I'm from Middletown. Just curious where you bought your lovely rifle as I'm in the market for a 1413 or 1813 with an adjustable cheek weld though.

I used a 1413 for smallbore shooting on the University of Delaware team from '66 to '70. Worked great. I put a Kenyon trigger on mine. Put so many rds. through it that I ringed the barrel. I sold it a few years ago for money for my daughter's wedding. I still have a 1974 1411 and 1407.

I've got one that is simply marked Anschutz. BBL is dated 1962, sporter configuration with DST & European styled sporter stock and an original Anschutz claw mount. Oh yeah, 11 degree target crowned muzzle too..........not sure if those were standard on the U.S. imports by Savage tho.

Picked the gun up at a local dealers shop back in '68 for the then rather stiff cost of $150.00...............That gun will put EVERY round into nearlly one hole at fifty measured yards!

Never seen another quite like it & I assume it was brought back by some GI that'd been stationed in Germany....

By the way, I shot competitive small and big bore when I was in the military and the Anschutz rifles seemed to always score out best!

I love Anschutz. My first rifle. We used to shoot the ends of empty 22 LR cases at 35 yards for fun.

Hi Skiking, what's the difference between the a 1413 and 1813. I use to shoot 3 position at Kutztown University with a 1413. I'm thinking of getting back into the sport and MT Guns has a couple 1413 for around 1200 and they also have a 1813 for 1500. Is the 1813 a bit more accurate over the 1413 due to it being newer? Please let me know. Thanks
