Thanks to your FIRST post on Nightstalker camo, I visited Karsten's site...

By FAR a more artistic job than any of the other "paint" camo finishes I've seen.

And yes, looking at all those M14's made me do the math... "OK, I've got $600 for that 10FLP, but if I could just save $600 more...." :D

After B&C get around to making the Duramaxx in left handed (lady on the phone said mid-next year) I'll probably end up sending it in for a Karsten Kamo job... Can't decide between Flektarn, KARPAT, or Night Stalker...

I thank you, and my ever non-existent gun budget thanks you.

;)

OnSlaught-

That M1A bug gets really expensive. I was going to start with a .308 Bolt rifle then decided that the M1A was the way to go. :)

Well I was asked by a very good friend of mine ask for a review close ups of my stock today. Its rather hard to see the texture on the stock from the orginal pictures that I first took and a quick review.

The orginal material is a USGI stock that had the selector filled and the forearm bedded with kevlar to tighten up for forearm of the stock and came complete with all metal. The stock fit was so tight that it took a rubber mallet to get the reciever into the stock and a wee bit of elbow grease to get the trigger group to lock in.

The paint quality is excellent and if I didnt know any better I would have thought it came off a machine. The paint is finished with 3-4 coats of satin clear and 2 more coats of dull. The texturing adds a nice custom touch to it as do the blends of colors. The camo works so well that I have even lost it in my closet. :)

I also had the pleasure of comparing my stock yesturday with another camo painter that advertises "hand painted" quality. After comparing both stocks the owner of the other camo stock and I were both clear that we both will be going the Karsten route again. He complained that it had splothes of paint with a shiny finish with many imperfections. YMMV though.

So the picture taking began and this is what I came up with.

That Karsten guy can really paint a stock.

I have seen many pictures of his full out paint jobs on stocks, actions and scopes, and they all rock.

Once I get my Savage done the way I want it, it's off to him to be completed.
