Technically, it is 6.35mm or .25 ACP, not 6mm. You shouldn't have any trouble finding that ammo on-line or at a gunshow.

so use 25acp or look for 6.35mm ammo?

Look for .25 ACP, which is not very effective as a self-defense cartridge. Penetration is its weakest point, so only fmj ammo should be used.

That is what is known as the Browning Baby. Made up until the late 1960s, it's one of the better pocket pistols, and it fires the .25 ACP round. With those pocket-pistol ergonomics, and the embryonic sights, accuracy outside of seven yards is just about nonexistent.

.25 ACP is rather expensive, but not overly difficult to obtain. Most loads are FMJ, although Speer does have a GDHP available for this cartridge, although for self-defense, the .25 ACP scores somewhere between the .22 LR, and throwing rocks.

Yeah, I am a huge fan of Browning guns but you don't wanna carry that one. If you have to use it in a tough spot, you'll just anger the attacker and get yore arse kicked! :uhoh:

It doesn't matter which (6.35mm or .25 ACP) they are the same exact thing.

I can't believe I missed this thread! I've been looking all over for Baby Browning info.

I, too, think it's cute (must be a girl thing). I only wish mine were in such good shape!

If you haven't already found this link, here's where you can find the date of manufacture by the serial number:
http://www.browning.com/customerservice/dategun/detail.asp?id=6

edit: I don't have the greatest monitor in the world, but your serial number looks to me like it begins 404. If so, your gun was manufactured in 1967. I know you didn't ask that - but I love looking for dob info for guns :)

serial number range for 1967: 367444-412999

Here's mine, from 1965. Mine's pretty beat up, not as pretty as yours (and you're a better photographer too lol).

Yeah I like the looks of the baby brownings a lot. They just are nice little guns. Someday maybe I will find a deal on one and pick one up.

When I saw Browning 6mm I thought to myself what the heck is that. Then I saw the picture and saw it was the "Baby Browning".

I would venture to call it the best made .25 out there.

I have two of the Bauer clones, which are also high quality little pistols.

Neat little guns, for sure, and they don't come much smaller.

Here's mine. Made in '67. It was a gift from my wife's aunt. It belonged to her father's freind who died. It was just sitting in her closet in a cigar box all these years.

It's the same thing.

American made ammunition will be labeled .25acp.

That cigar box did wonders for that little gun, that is probably THE BEST looking Baby Browning I've ever seen (condition wise). Now I REALLY want one.

My dad took one off an unruly suspect. It fit in a Prince Albert tobacco tin. Stolen from my home in 1969 or thereabouts. Loved that little pistol.
