im looking for a new rear sight on the hi power. piece o crap on it now keeps fallin off. i really like the novak adjustable one so im gonna get it, but i just noticed that wickman gun works and novak sight have like mirror image web sights. pricing is pretty similar as is wording for products and services.

any one deal with either and have good words. im gonna send the gun out this week for the sights and maybe a commander style hammer, but local smiths dont seem interested. any pros and cons or either?

I think Wickman used to work for Novak.

Yes, Kurt Wickmann used to work for Novak. He opened his own shop around three years ago and, by all accounts, is a great gunsmith. He may not, however, be a great businessman. I have heard accounts of people having difficulty contacting him and work taking WAY longer than quoted. In fact, he may not even be accepting work right now. My suggestion is to call and talk to him personally. You may also want to just have Novak do the work. They are a higher volume shop than Wickmann and may have a much faster turn-around time.

I got Novak sights on mine with the 3 white dot configuration and love 'em!

You should send yours to Don Williams for the "Street Package"

I second the recommendation to use Novaks for a quicker turnaround.

Yeah, I don;t think he is into the gun business anymore. If he is, he sure ain't going about it in the right way.

I ordered a BHP back in 2000. Heard something about it almost done in 2002. Nothing since then. My dealer gave me back all the money on deposit except the money sent to Mr. Wickmann to purchase the pistol in the first place. An expensive lesson and it drove me to buying stock pistols with parts I can fix/change myself.

I HATE Novak style sights. Don't get me wrong, if it works for you great, I just don't see the attraction to those things. There are several other rear sight styles out there that won't cut your hand or wear a hole in your shirt from carry that don't sacrifice the utility of a vertical face on the sight. Have you ever tried to do one hand drills with the Novak style sight? Can't use it to draw the sight to the rear for malfunction drills or to release the slide after a mag chance, etc. Like I said, if it works for you great but could someone explain the attraction?
