.30-06 Reload Question

I reloaded some .30-06 rounds. They are 180 grain core lockt bullets, 52.5 grains of Hodgdon 4350, and CCI primers. Everything is good except afterwards, I realized that my overall length is between 2.170 and 2.200 inches. I was trying to mimic the length of the factory ammo and failed to pay attention to my load chart that stated that the minimum overall length is supposed to be 2.300 inches. Will 2/10 inches make a difference? Will the reloads still work and not result in injury or damage to the shooter or weapon?

Where was that load in relation to starting/max load in your reloading manual?
Unless it was a starting load I'd be "somewhat" leary. If it was near or at max load.....well...I'll defer to more senior reloaders. Even though I've been reloading for a couple decades, I'm humble enough to admit that it's a constant learning experience.

52.0 grains was the minimum loading. I think 57.5 was the maximum loading. I used 52.5 grains of H-4350.

They will be perfectly fine.

The Sierra 180 Boat-Tail Hodgdon used is a longer more streamlined bullet then the Remington 180 Flat-Base, and probably takes up about the same room in the case when seated shorter.

Hodgdon shows a 180 Sierra boattail with 51.0 grains as giving only 37,800 CUP.

Thats 30-30 pressure / performance.
