Afraid the dems are going to up the spending and taxes through him.
He has stated he is for increasing public spending.
Then , when the state goes further down the tubes, will be a Repub (RINO) governer that catches the flac.

Bad for us in many ways.

Once lost, civil rights are never returned.

I'm glad to see Californians have given Red Davis the boot, but am afraid it's first and last a symbolic gesture: the legislature is as shameless a bunch of socialist parasites as Red Davis.

Please remember people, not EVERYONE in California is a communist. Some of us are decent conservatives. Albeit, we are the minority.

I think It'll be great, since I dont have to live there, for the entertainment value. Arnold for a Gov. otta be funnier than anything Eddie Murphy could ever do! Just go's to show, California is still the entertainment capital of the world; on ALL FRONT'S. However I still think Minesota's Gov. could take e'm.:D

Moved to the Legal & Political forum, which is the place to talk about laws and politics.

"Get to the ship," shouted Ford. "I don't want to know, I don't want to see, I don't want to hear," he yelled as he ran, "this is not my planet, I didn't choose to be here, I don't want to get involved, just get me out of here, and get me to a party, with people I can relate to!" -- Douglas Adams

made a statement indicating he is not well disposed towards "assault weapons" (probably not knowing what they are in any event). As far as I know, he has made no statements about home-defense and personal protection and so on.

At the very worst, he is no more anti-gun than the late Governor, Mr. Davis. He may even be approachable on the subject. (Or he may not.)

I move we give him a fair trial prior to the hanging.

Let the scandals begin! And I'm sure they will.
While I deplore this awful trend of celebrities who think they're qualified for anything in the world (including running things, which is a VERY bad idea), I would note that there is a diffence between the Minnesota governor and the Schwartzen-groper: Ventura was a Navy SEAL before going into show-biz. I'll put my money on a SEAL versus Mr. Olympia any day. I was a competitive bodybuilder about 20 years ago, and the stories I heard on Arnold were quite lurid. He is not the most intelligent human on the planet.

actually many of the "conservatives" in this state are still anti-gun. "Guns, only 'bangers need guns, I have a security guard" (orange county RINO's come to mind).
If you want ideologically consistant progunners, try the california LP.

PS arnold is not fiscally conservative, he spouted off some platitudes to get elected, he's just another big taxing, big spending, gun hating, liberal (in conservatives clothing).

As I understand it, McClintock was the only pro 2nd Admendment one running. One problem was voting for him might have let Bustamonte win and that would be baddddddddd.

The 2A is not a plank in any party's platform. It is a Constitutionally acknowledged right. SCOTUS has to end this dog & pony show.

It remains to be seen what Arnold will do.... but I have a feeling that this person who married into the Kenedy clan will, like any respectable :barf: Kenedy, NOT be our friend. Instead, what I truly expect to happen is simply that like so many other politicians who enshrine themselves and believe in their own elietness that he will enact plenty of "do as I say not as I do" laws.

http://www.mortonkarr.com/images/portfolio/arnold_peo.jpg

In any case I would expect AT BEST that he will bargain away gun owners and 2A issues to get this or that other thing he wants passed. Perhaps a sniper rifle ban in trade for letting kids in high school take steroids :neener: I dunno.....

Time will tell. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised. BUT when Willie Brown comes on the radio last night and LITERALLY says that Arnold is not so bad likening him to a QUOTE - "conservative Democrat like Diane Fienstein" :barf: :barf: :barf: you HAVE to know that this is NOT going to be an angel of mercey for gun owners the way Tom McClintoc could have been.

I'll reserve my final judgement until I see what the man does... but I have little hope of any progress toward 2a rights.

Thank GOD however that we did not get bustamante. That guy's concession speech was more about how well they did and how la raza won on 54 than it was anyhting else. I have to hand it to GrayDay - at least THAT man made a dignified and concilliatory exit speech.

I'm none the less glad Davis is history.

IMHO - Bustamante would have been a scouging plague... so Arnold is the lesser of two evils.

I still want out of this state badly.

Hey pax, Arthur eventually got his party...IIRC, a large and disreputable one, right in the small of the back.

:D

Don't panic.
