The term —"assault weapon“ must include any semiautomatic rifle, shotgun, or
pistol that can accept a detachable magazine and includes one listed additional
feature such as a pistol grip, fore-end grip, or collapsible stock.

By this newly planned definition, a semiauto pistol with a pistol grip is an
assault weapon

The Brainless Bradys and VPC have been using this definition for some time now - that's how they get their "1 in 5 cops killed with AW" calculation; a cop killed with his own service weapon or another cop is counted.

And we're surprised? Not in the least.

'Course, revolver folks have to consider ... moon clips and speedloaders may eventually be redefined as magazines. Wouldn't that be special? Since your old .38 can take "detachable magazines" ...

Then they're go after rifle cartridges in handguns like the Contenders, then that will go move on to "assassin" single shots, etc . . . until they have everything. Which is many of their stated goals. :fire:

Taken from the Bureau of Justice, statistics:

According to the 1997 Survey of State Prison Inmates:

During the offense that brought them to prison, 15% of State inmates and 13% of Federal inmates carried a handgun, and about 2%, a military-style semiautomatic gun.

The anti-gun knucklehedds will probably try to switch this around to read in their favor as to keeping the AWBan.

Anything can be used as a weapon, even Kleenex tissues.*

Any weapon can be used in an assault.

Ergo, anything can be described as an assault weapon.

Stupid!

*Insert Kleenex plugs into nostrils. Insert Kleenex into mouth in a sufficient quantity to block the airway and prevent gag reflex expulsion.

Result: Death by Kleenex.

That's been the leftist extremists' plan all along: get a toe in the door, then force it all the way open, then tear it off the hinges. So-called "reasonable compromises" with leftists are like having a mild case of A.I.D.S.: fatal.

RE: the letter linked to the original post:

I had to chuckle at the name of the first organization:

American Association of Suicidology

Are they for or against Suicide?

As for the nutcase who wrote that letter, does he/she/it actually represent ALL of thos orginizations? Or are they all just "front" names for the same group of gun grabbers? I mean, come on now you have:

Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence
Iowans for the Prevention of Gun Violence
New Yorkers Against Gun Violence
Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence
(just to name a few)

Are the above named orgs OK with Knife Violence? or Baseball Bat violence? or Cast Iron Skillet violence?

Why not just have an orginization called >>
(your state name here) Council Against Violence.

Hey I'm AGAINST violence. I am so much against it that I go to extreme means to avoid it. Including but not limited to carrying several tools to assist myself in avoiding it.

Also you have an org calling itself... New Mexico Voices for Children
I guess some areas might need someone to speak for the children whose defenseless parents have been killed or crippled by THUGS.

As for me I intend to stay alive long enough to speak for my children until they are adults.

But then I might be weird, I was taught the 3 R's, the 10 Commandments, The Golden Rule AND the Four Rules. I learned all of those at home AND in public school.

Hmmm. Notice how it's no longer assault rifle?

Just don't try to tell the NNAAW* hunters that a bolt action rifle will evenutally be defined as a sniper rifle.

Already has. When the ban passed, I thought to myself that it
wouldn't be long before they went for bolt-rifles. Lo and behold,
late one night, I was channel surfing, and I caught Janet Reno
on C-Span announcing to all that:
"America does not need SNIPER RIFLES!" ...while a nice young man held up a Remington Sendero and panned it in a 120 degree arc for the cameras.
Please note that this was in the spring of 1992.

They are silly asses, but they are serious about your firearms. They
also know that they can't get them all, so the next thing to target will
be the repair parts and ammunition. I've had visions that soon, ordering
a slide or barrel from Brownells will require a pistol permit, with all parts
serialized. Part too small to put a number on? So sorry. No can do.
One 50-round box of .45 hardball? Yes sir! That will be $112.95...
plus sales tax, of course.

Cheers?

With apologies to the Man in Black:

They'll get them one piece at a time, and you'll likely serve some time,

You'll know it's them when they come to your door!

They'll get them one piece at a time, and you'd better toe the line,

Or you'll wind up dead and handcuffed on the floor!"

Take a look at the firepower that a regular pump-action 12 gauge can put out there. It beats everything but a minigun.
It won't be long until they get around to going after those.
Perhaps people will wake up when they do.

Yeah Bubba with his 12 ga. is a bad thing...

If anything it's bad for the deer population.

They will probably go after the 410s even.

edit: Oh no wait, we don't want to give them ideas.

Funny, this kinda reminds me of an episode of South Park. The kids were demanding to know why this company was lying to them about sending actors to portray them as their future selves. The Chairman said something like "Well due to our liberal upbringing, we believe its okay to lie and bend the truth if it will help us get our politcal agenda across".

I can beat the anti into oblivion, take the pistol away from him and it will cease to be a paper weight in my hands, and become something respectable.

What about knives, plates, skillets, cars, feet, belts, pillows, refridgerators, locked cars in the heat, ad nauseam. WHERE DOES THIS NANNY STATE BS END?:banghead: :fire:

From their perspective, it is a smart move. Let legislative creep do the work for you. They don't even have to pass new laws in many areas, just add to definitions.

All they have to do is "accidentaly" use the term "clip" and "magazine" interchangibly and suddenly anything that takes either is an assault weapon. (think revolvers, garands, ANYTHING that takes a stripper clip.) The language that these people use is really their secret weapon. It inspires confusion and deception and is REALLY hard to guard against.
