Does anybody know a place where I could download that video? I'd like to incorporate it into a video of my own.

There you go.

No, that's not a barrel shroud. It's an over-the-shoulder-thingie.

there's this website called that I use to watch vkontakte videos that my girlfriend uploads, but I'm not so sure of the legalities if you used it on youtube.

Copyright laws normally entitle you to save a copy for personal use so long as you do not redistribute it, and you are not breaking encryption by doing so (in the case of Youtube videos, the sites merely provide you a download link for the unprotected videos). Your using it in your own video would be a violation, however.

I had never seen that 'clip', (which is in fact a clip, as opposed to the 'clips' she incorrectly referred to,) and I feel relieved in that I can still be surprised at the ignorance of antis.

You could always write to the TV show and ask for a copy of the clip

March 22, 2009, 05:31 PM
I was just going to use it on another youtube video.

March 22, 2009, 05:39 PM
I'm still unsure as how to actually save a copy though.

I tried using what DAVID said, but it doesn't really work.

Unfortunately you can no longer save youtube videos. It used to be possible using several free online programs, but youtube changed it's policy.

March 22, 2009, 06:26 PM
I think you could use the video under the fair use clause

Yea. What I want to know is if anybody can find that video elsewhere besides youtube in a downloadable format??

Unfortunately you can no longer save youtube videos.
Hooey. Use the DownloadHelper plug in for Firefox and you're golden.

March 22, 2009, 07:15 PM
You can paste the original link into, which will give you the option of saving it in quicktime format. I don't have the option of editing quicktime, but it does let you have the vid for personal use and play it back w/o internet access.

Cannonball, that's not McCarthy, that's Pelosi. You've confused your aliens

March 22, 2009, 08:01 PM
Cannonball now that is funny, I don't care who you are.

Having Carolyn McCarthy write gun laws makes as much sense as having the Amish write the vehicle code.

if you take the url of the YouTube video and go to: and paste it in the top line and click "download" it will verify the video at the bottom of the screen. From there, click "Download" again next to the single frame picture of the youtube video.

The video will save as a "get_video.flv" on your desktop, or where you chose to save it.

From there, I use the YouTube Downloader Version 2.1.7 to convert the .flv to .wmv (you can also "cut" the video and save the audio as a .mp3 if you found a really good song..) The downloader can be found at:

After you convert it, you may delete the .flv file from your computer.

It's a little time consuming, but I've rarely had it fail to convert a video. Most of the news clips like that I use in training, so it's easier to use on a flash drive in .wmv as too many places have YouTube blocked from their firewall.

Cannonball. That's funny as hell. LOL

I can't stop laughing at that poster.

March 22, 2009, 11:42 PM
haha, that is tooo funny. You have to love the reporter in that video though "Do you even know what a barrel shroud is?...No, that's not what it is..."

March 23, 2009, 07:01 AM
For those of you who want to jack youtube for their vids here ya go. I love it, the old version was better but hey almost any vid on the net I wont complain. Just DO NOT use it as your primary downloader as its a PITA just use it for the videos then disable when its not needed

March 23, 2009, 01:47 PM
That is typical of most of them. She does not have clue.

That orbit downloaded downloads the webpage as a .htm, not the video. What am I doing wrong?
