Make your own!

Trace the outline of your gun, add the width of gun, trace the gun again.

The actual harness should be pretty easy. Two leather straps crossed against the back with an X piece to hold them together. Add buckles when appropriate.

Well it sounds easy...

The thing with a shoulder holster is retention and balance. That gun is going to be sitting there heavy side down (the grip full of rounds with an auto), wanting to tilt barrel upward and thus gravity will be working against you...as opposed to an IWB where gravity is working with you.

So you have to very carefully attach you holster to your harness to keep the barrel positioned pretty close to parallel to the ground as you stand. And you have to have a very well thought out retention system to hold that gun in place.

The problem with a vertical shoulder holster (barrel perpendicular to the ground) is that it retains too well. You have to pull up to get it out and, again unlike an IWB the forces are working against you. The harness is going to provide no support as you pull straight up like it does when you pull straight forward.

I too want to make a shoulder holster but having made several holsters of other types, it is not as easy as it seems. I too am looking for a pattern and am especially interested in getting the attachment to the harness right, the harness itself just right, and getting the retention just right. You do not want you gun falling out on you!!!

If I find a pattern, or if you find one, post it here somehow. I plan on hitting Cabelas or someplace and getting a good look at a top of the line model and going from there.

hoosierq here is a link i found on how to make a "doc holliday" style shoulder holster, although the gun actually sits at a same level as a belt holster. but this is the only pattern i have found as of yet. http://eightbits.home.att.net/Crafting7_web_DocHol.PDF
