I have seen people paint the sights as well as strip the blueing off of the sights. I need to improve the signts on mind, and are looking for a classier not mickey moused improvement, any suggestions.

The guttersnipe sight is what it is.
I had a 605 (the .357mag version of the 85) that I had my gunsmith put a red insert on the front sight. That helped. The gun really is designed for close in self defense where you are apt to use point shooting more than anything else!!
My Smith 65-6 has guttersnipe sights and I found with a little practice, I could hit pretty good with it!! ;)

i painted mine & in normal lite it made it look wider & i could`nt line it up in the gutter so i changed to a low glow green .
brownells sells a kit to fill a notch but i`m at the age my eyes change alot & i change sites to what works !!
i figure when my eyes settle down i`ll get laser surgery but until then specs & an ITHICA at nite !!!!!

- tape sight where you don't want paint
- TESTORS flouro orange from Wally World
- remove tape BEFORE paint dries so it doesn't come off in chunks
- TESTORS is water soluble making for easy cleanup or reapplication if it isn't as you wish
- 2 Coats clear nail polish for protection after 24hr dry
**ETA Padding the gun in a vise with muzzle ~ 60 degree downward angle and painting from seated position helps me to be more steady.
