Last summer I loaded 20 each 130g spitzer in 270Win with IMR4350, IMR4831, Benchmark, IMR3031, H4895, and IMR4064. I shot them all at 100 yards. I did a similar task with 30-06 (150g fmj) with the four IMR powders. In both trials, 4350 gave the best 5-shot groups. I reported it on this Forum and a bunch of members responded with similar stories. I guess IMR4350 can't be all bad.

It is a great powder for .30-06, just don't use it in a M1 Garand. It can damage the op rod.

I use H4350 in my 30-06 rounds for bolt action rifles but H4895 for my Garand. I like Hodgdon's powders better than IMR powders because they will produce slightly less pressure while delivering the same velocities. If you can't find H4350 there's nothing at all wrong with IMR 4350. I've used both with equally good success.

Used the stuff for years and years in my '06s..........my concoction consists of 57.5 IMR 4350 pushing Sierra's 165 HPBT............chrono's 2850 out of my 24" M/70 and about 150 fps less from my 22" Browning autoloader.............yeah, I know, you ain't supposed to use that in an auto, right.........tell that to the last dozen or so deer and hogs!

Great powder, about the only downside is that like all extruded powders it can be somewhat "crunchy" to drop charges from a hopper with.

Try it, you'll like it...........oh yeah, one nice feature is that it is a full volumn powder in the '06, so you' really have to work at it to grossly overload.

One more fan of IMR 4350 here. Have used it with great success in bolt guns from .243 Win to .30-'06. As noted above, it is NOT for use with the Garand.

IMHO and IMX, IMR 4350 pushing a 165 grain bullet is as good as it gets for hunting, and for target shooting < 300 yd, in the '06. No experience with further-range target shooting.

But the 165 is just about perfect for the bore size, and IMR 4350 is just about perfect as to pressure, burn speed, etc.

You do cut a few grains when cycling the powder measure. So what?

I have used H4350, AA4350, and IMR 4350 in bolt action 30-06’s. A load which is very accurate with 165’s, 168’s SMK’s, and 175 SMK’s is 55.0 grains AA or IMR 4350, any case, any primer.

In my testing, my lot of H4350 was one grain slower than either IMR or AA4350. Accurate Arms told me that their powder is a pressure curve equivalent of IMR. So buy whatever is cheapest.

I believe that a person could adequately cover all rifle cartridges, up to the 50 BMG, with just IMR 4895 and IMR 4350.

I just picked up a very little used Remington mountain rifle in .280. I've been loading IMR 4350 & RL19. The IMR 4350 loads with 162 gr, Hornady SP look very good. One inch at 100 yards for the first trial load.
