I like it. I really, really want one.
Bob the hammer and a 2" Airweight .45 ACP N-frame would make a hella purse gun. :uhoh:

Old eyes betrayed me.
Yeah.....6 shot N frame.
Blue n bobbed, would be way cool tool tucked in tote.

The gun Store I go to had one.It was kind of cool, and the trigger seemed good, but at over $900.00 I would have to pass on that one.I did like it though.

I really like it!! Bob the hammer and it's pretty close to the perfect carry gun.
I'd own one, but I just can't swing the $1k price right now.

How difficult is it to use moon clips with stiff fingers? It's probably got those "half-moon" clips. That brings up another question. Why are those half-moon clips offered anyway? Easier to load or something?? Maybe easier to get loose? Seems like full moon clips would be like speed-loaders. Sam? Tamara?

(I bet the recoil wouldn't be any worse than a model 296, .44 Special.)

Perhaps obnoxious would be a better term. But that's not necessarily a bad quality in a defensive weapon.
I'd probably want to try before I buy, but I could see myself owning one.

It's not that bad... Blued, would be better... indeed. But better yet, would have been if they didn't scallop off the sides of the barrel.
I'm not into that new style S&W's Performance Center is trying to put out. I think it's an ugly thing.
I'd still take this Big Snub... but would wish it was blued.

You could always have it Black-T'ed, George...

I have a little red/green trouble, but I'm usually pretty good with silvers and blues. To me, the side plate looks like the finish on a LS. Anybody else see something like that?

It has an alloy frame with a stainless sideplate. I asked the S&W engineer at SHOT if that was because... well... it was just easier to use the N-frame sideplates they had lying around rather than whip up a batch of 250 light-colored alloy ones. His answer struck me as an affirmative one.:)

"Why are those half-moon clips offered anyway? Easier to load or something??"
someone correct me if I'm wrong - I think they were designed for military use, making carry and storage of loaded clips more efficient.

Hey in 1917 the half-moon clip was state of the art technology.
The full-moon clip is a fairly recent development.
Half-moon clips carry really well in a suit coat pocket and you don't need any of those hifalutin' "mooner/demooner" toys neither.

Thanks Tamara. A lot of times I don't mention color because I'm wrong about color so many times.
BluesBear: I was wondering about that demooning tool. I really don't want to carry any more "stuff" or have to add another extra step in reloading quickly.
I'd take this big snub over a Glock .45ACP too. And, I love Glocks.

It's ugly, but it has the same brutal ugliness of one of Mad Max's cars. That bad@$$ no nonsense sort of ugliness.
Must have.

Why didn't they just make the 696 in .45ACP instead of that monstrosity?...:banghead:

i dont think you can fit 5 rounds of 45 ACP in an L frame.

A light weight .45 ACP snubbie is a neat idea. Any idea what the difference in muzzle velocity would be between a 2" vented barrel and a 3.78" non-vented barrel (G36)?

Taurus did....
And I'd prefer a 696 version. No ports...
