Kimber Ultra RCP $1,159.00
The Ultra RCP .45 Compact features slim Micarta fluted grips, rounded edges for concealed carry, a sighting trench instead of sights for fast target acquisition. No sights to snag on clothing. The bbl is throated and the trigger has the soft pull of all Kimber triggers. This is a great carry gun in a small package.

how far away are we from a 1911 style that affords a grip for only the index and middle fingers and thumb, and the barrel is simply a chamber?
Things keep getting smaller and smaller...

Yawn...you ARE aware that this is the same Kimber "Ultra" pistol that they already make and sell? There are no modifications internally or externally that make this any more accurate or reliable. It's not really any smaller, lighter or thinner (excepting the grips). You really want to pay more money for the same gun that has less stuff?
Why pay $1200 for the same Ultra 3" pistol, except this one doesn't have tritium sights, rosewood grips, checkered frontstrap or stainless steel?
Get the regular Ultra, bob the hammer and beavertail-if you want, add thin grips yourself and spend the rest of your money on a reliability job by Teddy Jacobsen.

Well, I like a good handful of grip myself, but I'm not complaining. We're lucky to live in the Golden Age of sub-compact CCW guns. The market is awash with every variety of superb, highly concealable defensive arms. The only discouraging part is deciding on one.
Life is Good. :)

Nice looking little gun, but not my cup of tea for that size/price combo. At least, there is a little something out there to suit almost everyone's taste and needs.

Since the full size 1911 is already easy to conceal, this "1911" is a square wheel as far as I'm concerned.

Looks nice, but I wonder how easy it is to shoot effectively & how well the 45 acp would perform from such a short barrel.

It's about $700 too much.
The barrel would give a muzzle velocity with the .45 of what, about 700 fps?
I like the sights. I'd be interested in seeing how they shoot.
It's about $700 too much.

Standard plus p rounds in 185,200 and 230 grains, when shot from a 3 incher lose approximately 100 fps (actual chrono figures), then when shot from a 5 incher. (1911 style pistols)
Like the concept for a close in concealable less snag defensive pistol, especially if ya have been practicing looking over top of slide and concentrating on target. Don't like the price. For some, the 3 inchers are not good at "all around range, gaming and defensive pistols" as the 5 inchers. They appear to be more specialized, and shooting a high number of full powered rounds in one sitting can induce a flinch in some of the worst of us.
Am particulary fond of the 3 in 45 acp, and have the first versions of the Defender, ultra carry and micro-compact. While concealed carry is not yet legal in this state, ain't beliving a 5 incher is as easy to conceal.:scrutiny:

I like the sight trough, but must say the price tag doesn't trip my trigger.

You would be amazed how easy it is. I was standing in the gunshop helping the owner pay for his retirement when this GSC starts spouting off about how people never really carry full size guns. "They shoot them in IDPA and they don't even carry them. If they say that they do they are lying. Can't carry it in hot weather. Blah blah etc." So I said, "You have a good point, do you think I could get away with carrying a full size 1911 that I use in IDPA in this sort of heat?" "Not a chance." says he. Then *Dan lifts his shirt. "What the does this look like then?"
It is easy with a good holster and a good belt.
