Anyone else agree? What other rifles does it seem like everyone has somewhere?

I have a 10/22 but neither of the others.

The Remington 870 pump shotguns seem to be pretty popular but to be honest I don't know many people that have them anymore but I know several that have had them at one point or another.

10/22 much more so than anything else I can think of.

None of the above.

I am not a 10/22 fan.

I do have a Marlin 99M1. A sweeter, lighter squirrel hunting semi-auto has never been built. Except for the gritty/heavy trigger.

If i were to pick a uber popular rifle....the marlin 336. ARs are "big", but a lot of people like M14s better (and vise versa) so those are out of the question....but most people seem to like the 336.

What about a 30-30 lever action. Bet a lot of people also have one of those.

I don't have a Mosin, but a few have caught my attention before.

But I do own a 10/22, and 2 SKS's at the moment. Marlin Model 60 wouldn't be a bad addition in the future, .22s are always welcome.

Gambit88
March 26, 2009, 03:52 PM
I agree with the 870. I have one as well but As this was the rifle board I left it out. I guess less people own a mosin then I thought. Im not going to get into the mod 60 vs 10/22 debate thats just as bad as .45 vs 9mm.

Everyone seems to have one 10/22 Mosin Nagant SKS

Had a 10/22 - sold it due to accuracy issues, have Glenfield Marlin 70, Springfield 87A and Winchester 190

Mosin Nagant - want one but too expensive here in Canada, but am willing to wait for the right deal.

SKS - yes, Norinco, original detachable mag, 2 MOA rifle. Ugly, but love it.

Marlin M60 SS

I have no intent on getting a 10/22. My other bolt .22's have ruined all other guns for me, she is an anchutz.

SKS - wouldn't mind getting another

Mosin Nagant, would like to get one, but the only whole ones I can find around here are 300 + (I could get one without a font sight post for 99).

scythefwd
March 26, 2009, 09:31 PM
Oh, and a mossberg 500 should also be on there. I find that either you have an 870 or a 500 but not both. Then the person tends to stick to that company.

I'd have to modify the lever action .30-30, only because while I do have a .30-30, it isn't lever action. There is enough of the bolt .30-30's out there to just include them in the .30-30 genre.

I had a 10/22. Didn't like it. Sold it.

I had two Mosins. Shot one. Didn't like it. Sold it. Still have the other, but it's still in reeking Russian grease/mold amalgamation.

I have an SKS. Never have shot it. Also still in (really really reeking) grease.

I'm weird, I guess.

I'd rather have a Marlin 60 and some lever guns to play with, when it comes to toy rifles.:)

SKS - Check :)

It also seems that a lot of people have a Mossy 500. Oh, and either a Buckmark or a Ruger pistol.

10/22 - avoided it because "Everyone has one", I didn't quite care for their looks and the 10/22 name seems to carry a price premium. Went with a Remington 597 and a Romanian trainer.

Mosin - my first rifle (and second firearm) I have ended up with three because they are cheap (both gun and ammo), reliable, look good, have a satisfying recoil and have been accurate enough for me so far.

SKS - would like one, but the lowest price around here is about $250.

One Norinco SKS.
Two MN 44s.
Do not have a 10/22.

But the ancient Savage .22 is fun. All of my guns, including the Mini 14 & 30 have no gimmicks or gear (except carry bags) and are all equally fun:).

The only one you need is a Ruger 10/22 or another 22 rifle of your choice. The rest are luxuries. I own neither a SKS or MN and don't want to own either. I have a Mini-14 as my fun gun. But aren't they all fun?

In my part of the world.....Everyone has a;
Marlin model 60
Marlin 336
Remington 870

336 and 870 here;
the Model 60 went to a niece, a nephew or a friend's kid some years ago.

I shoot a Rem 510 bolt action .22 from the 1950s now. Does using a single shot .22 make me look like a snob? ;)

Got a 91/30, but never had an SKS.

I had two Mosins. Shot one. Didn't like it. Sold it. Still have the other, but it's still in reeking Russian grease/mold amalgamation.

Yep own a stainless 10/22 and a 870. But I do own a steyr rifle , a husqvarna revolver in 7.5x22 Swiss (if you have any ammo for sale PM me) and a ATC M4 rifle/handgun jam-o-matic pile.

alemonkey
March 28, 2009, 10:21 PM
I have all three. Just put a bull barrel on the 10/22. It's pretty darn accurate, but I want to get a Volquartsen hammer for it. That's supposed to help the crappy factory trigger. Plus about 10% of the time it fails to fire due to light primer strikes. Hopefully the new hammer will help that too.

SKS can't hit the broad side of the barn with cheap ammo (Hotshot, etc). Acceptable with Wolf, Golden Tiger, etc. 100% reliable as only a Commie gun can be.

Love my Mosins, M39 is a sweetheart, 91/30 is a fun beater. And I've got a Type 53 receiver I'm building a custom money pit rifle out of.

Lol:D ... no it's just to extend the stock slightly. Mind you I wouldn't mind one on my Winchester 94 Trails End - that crescent stock can 'bite in' on full .44 Mag loads when shooting prone!

Mr White
March 29, 2009, 12:56 PM
Lol ... no it's just to extend the stock slightly. That's what I figured, but I just couldn't resist.

My Win 94 in .32 Win Spl has a bit of a kick for such a small caliber too, because the gun's so dang light. I use the exact same recoil pad you have on my Mosin Nagant M44. That small gun with the 7.62x54 round is a real shoulder thumper
