i have to clean my .22 and i was wondering if i have to leave it sit over night
it says to on the bottle but is it a must?

If by .22 you mean a 22 rimfire , copper fouling should never be a problem. I see no reason to leave it in the bore for any length of time. Even for centerfire rifles there are bore cleaners that do not require the solvent/foam to set over night.

i agree, with a rimfire, it is not necessary. it might still be benificial, but the reason for letting it soak is to allow the copper solvent to go to work on the copper. since at the most, rimfire bullets are copper washed, and they are not really hyper velocity, so it does not imbed into the barrel like jacketed bullets do.
