I am taking a class this semester called Multimedia Concepts, the purpose of the class in to teach us how to author CD-ROMs and DVDs in a program called Director. The class project and final is a presentation of a CD-ROM we have designed. My idea for a CD-ROM is a user guide/ promotional disk for Steyr Firearms. Here are some of the things I need help getting information for.
-I remember reading some old threads on TFL where someone had emailed the designers of the pistol to ask them questions. I would really like to get those email addresses.
-My instructor says I need written permission from Steyr to use their name and images in the project. This is required to be able to enter it into the nation design contest. So if anyone might know how I could get a hold of someone to obtain this permission it would be greatly appreciated.
-I would like to have a testimonial section so if anyone would like to volunteer his or her it would be greatly appreciated. Please include first name, state of residents, and possible occupation, especially if you are a LEO or a gunsmith, or firearms instructor. Feel free to PM me if so desired
-The current user manual in a .pdf file would be nice.
-Websites that offer support
-If someone knows how to do a detailed disassembly of the Steyr then please enlighten me, I would like to illustrate it.
I will probably come back and add more to the list as I remember things I didn’t think about. If you have any suggestions of features to add to the title please feel free to let me know.
Thank you in advance for all you help.

I can't help you with all that stuff but here's some video that someone posted here earlier on a thread of a P90 that you might be interested in using. Only problem is I don't know who the author of the video is to ask permission.

DigMe,
Thanks, but I plan on checking out one of the miniDV cameras from the school and shooting my own video showing the Steyr being used.

Diamond Trail Shooter's Supply would be a good place to start as far as a U.S. contact: http://www.usasteyr.com.
As far as a detailed strip goes, I may be of some help. I've never attempted an "as many separate pieces as possible" strip, but you'll find that it's pretty easy to take the metal sub-frame out of the plastic gripframe for an "as detailed as you'd ever need" strip. Basically you do a field strip as per the manual, then looking down into the frame use a paper clip to pull up on the spring above the manual safety bar--pull this out. Remove the takedown lever bar. Use the key to press in the circular "lock" thing and while this is pressed in pull up on the front of the slide rails. The circular lock thing is of course spring loaded so keep a good grip on it as the subframe comes out the plastic grip frame. I have a bunch of poorly-lit photos of this process I can post if you like.
Additionally, the fellow who designed (on a conceptual level) the M/S series is named Wilhelm Bubits. He used to have a website at www.bubits.at but I don't believe it's up anymore. More info here (http://www.sightm1911.com/lib/review/steyr40.htm)

DigMe,
Oh, I see, P90, as in Steyr P90 not Ruger P90. Those are pretty neat clips but I concentrating on the M and S series handgun.
Cortland,
Thanks for the info. Please post the pics they will help when I go to do it myself. I plan on setting up a video camera and making clips that will guide a person through the process.

Cortland,
Thanks, that link will help a lot.
I am having trouble getting the take-down lever to come out. Is there a trick to getting that thing out that is not mentioned in the example?

Flashpoint,
is the magazine still in the frame? The take-down lever is very difficult to remove with the magazine inserted. As long as the magazine is out and the lever is in-line with the take-down guide on the side of the frame, it should pull right out.

thanks for the dissasembly instructions been wondering how that is done.
sure beats pins running through the frame. reminds me of kel-tec p11 minus pins through frame and grip.
as for project info try bubits website and email him some also dont focus on just steyr handguns they make rifles and are known more for the rifles. many people know about the AUG but not the manufacture which is steyr.
you would be wise to email austria folks via the steyr-mannlicher site. will take a while for responce especially if the message is in english only.

mrapathy2000,
Cortland gave me a link to Bubit's site but I couldn't not access it. Do you have a link that would work or Bubit's Email address?
I know Steyr makes a lot of nice firearms and if I had the time and resources to do a CD-ROM freatureing all of them then I would, but this is due in about a month and a half. I will probably build a page that list other Steyr firearms, but the disc is mainly going to be a users guid/promotional disc for thier M and S series. I checked Steyr's web site and could not find a way to contact them on it. I plan on giving Diamond Trail Shooters a call on monday.

I kept trying. I decided to use my knife to pop it out instead of using my fingers to pull on it. I was surprised at how easly it came out. I have not went through all the steps yet. When I can successfull do it I'm going to video it.
