All,
I traded some 20g shells for 2 boxes of 7.62x51 / .308 ammo. I am hoping someone can tell me what I have here as there is no marking on the boxes other then ....

20 pcs
.308 Winchester
(7,62 x 51mm)

On the rim of the cartridge is... clockwise

308W
C
81
O

Anyone have any ideas?

Does it come in light bluish boxes? It is S&B and is corrosive and berdan primed. They had it in the latest Sportsman's Guide magazine too for $.50 a round, crazy you could barely give this stuff away before, seriously it used to sell for $.15/round if that before the election. It is safe ammo to shoot but is non-reloadable and corrosive so clean your gun appropriately. People are dumping all the trash now I've even seen the return of the Indian .308 that has sand instead of gun powder (ask me how I know).

Anyways like I said it is safe, decently accurate so just clean well and live and learn.

Back in the early 70's I walked into a pawn shop and bought a bunch of 7.62x51 for .05 per round. Those were the days.

Wow, 351 Win. In 1972 in my home town it was $2 for a box of 20.
That was a dime apiece, twice what you paid.
