I was at the local range yesterday and I was looking at their knives. They had a CR that went for $840 bucks. It was a Damascus blade, but WOW! For that much, I'll buy another pistol.

"Damascus" Only one way to make that. By hand. Damascus blades cost more for that reason. You're right though. I've bought cars for less than that.

I think I paid a little more than $300 for my Chris Reeve "Sebenza". It's been a few years, I don't remember exactly what I paid. However, I do know one thing. It's still my only folder that, when the blade locks open, there's no "play". It's like it's a "sheath knife". It's a downright amazing knife.

Sunray, Damascus (or pattern welded steel) is made by hand, machine, and powder metalurgy now. Hand made pattern welded steel is the most expensive of the lot, though.

While I think the Sebenza is the best made knife in the world I do not think that an $800 sebe, even in damascus, is worth it.
