A lot of reloaders become collectors of one thing or another. I know of one guy who collects empty powder canisters. I was wondering if anyone collects die sets that you don't reload for. If so, what caliber(s)?

I don't collect but I'll buy a set of dies for something that I don't have a gun, but only if it's a good deal. I've got 6mm Remington, 30-30, .256 Win Mag dies just because they were a good deal.

I've purchased dies before without owning a rifle in that caliber. Well, since I already had the dies, I had to go buy a rifle in that caliber :)

I don't have dies for calibers I don't own, but I have bullets, brass and primers for stuff I do not own.

I have in excess of 140 different caliber dies. I only own guns in about 60 of those calibers. I watch for good prices on used dies and bullet molds, especially obsolete or discontinued models. I never let dies go with a sold gun. I did that years ago and then got another gun in that caliber and had a difficult time finding another set of dies.

I seem to collect ammo for guns that I do have, but never get around to shooting anyway. :rolleyes:

I have dies for .45 Colt but don't own one yet.... I just plan on getting a single action revolver......

And I have dies for 7.5 swiss, 7.62 X 54, & 7.62 X 39..... those I jusr haven't got around to loading yet..... but I'm saving brass for them....

I will sometimes buy the dies first as motivation in buying the gun. I will also always collect the brass first as well in inticipation of my purchase.

Example, I got it in my head that I am saving for a 500 S&W. Immediately went out and purchased the dies, also have been looking for brass. Well it has been about 9 months and I just blew my 500 savings on a colt anaconda.

Back to saving all over again. But I will eventuall get my 500. :D
