What are the functional differences between stainless, nickel, blued, polycoat black, and other finishes? What are the pros and cons for maintenance, longevity, and durability?

Which is the best choice for the ultimate in no-maintenance care? Which is the worst for susceptibility to marring, scratching, and/or rust?

I have only SS for the most part.have had no bad experiences with SS but it will rust you just have to work at it a little harder. There are some that say SS is inferior to carbon steel but I beg to differ. If stainless was that bad no company would build pistols from it just on liability alone. The various finishes from Robar have an excellent reputation. If you wanted a durable self lubricating finish Robar is the Place to go. I have a CZ 75 with a polymere finish looks like a baked on paint job to me.
