My friend and i were shooting today and he was using a high standard 22lr revolver. after a while, we noticed one of the screws from the top strap of his pistol had come out. what is the purpose of this screw? and what are the potential problems that could arise from one not being there?

I'm not familiar with high standard's revolvers, but if it's a standard swing-out cylinder, the screw in the top strap is probably for securing a telescopic sight.
