UPDATE: WOLF Ammo and my Shotgun

The frozen action is because of two things:

1) A missing pin in the trigger group. Causing the slide to jam.

2) And the shell extractor unable to remove the WOLF shell that got lodged in the barrel.

What this means is that I was sold a used gun. :fire:

I would have returned it if not for the installation of GR sights and the repairs already done. It works fine now but, this has left a bad taste in my mouth. And I dont know when, but I plan to stop into that gunshop and give the owner a vent.

NYC gun owners, dont buy from "IRONWORKS FIREARMS" in chinatown.

How does a missing pin indicate you were sold a used gun? Factories miss stuff on occasion (there's a recent thread were someone mentions their FN shotgun is missing one of the screws that hold the sight on).

I failed to mention the gunsmith found residue in the barrel. It had been fired a few times before.

Guns are fired for safety and function before they leave the factory.

A completely different experience from my first shotgun (marine mag). The action was as smooth as butter, this one wasnt. The fact that I would have to pay for services out of the box defeats the purpose of buying a "new" gun. Not a pleasant experience this time around.

How was the ammo to blame for the missing trigger group pin that caused the jam? I fail to see the connection.

The missing pin misaliegned the action. The shell got lodged (tight) in the barrel. A combo that was not good.

your gun would have ceased to work even if you used non wolf ammo.

Nightwatch, was that before or after you had already dumped some Wolf ammunition down that tube?

Why would a used gun be missing a pin? Seems more likely that a new gun was shoddily assembled and missed QC checks before shipping out the door. (That or the previous owner had it jam and then returned it)

I bought a brand new AR (before AWB window closed) that was missing the spring in the safety catch, this safety swung around like a pendulum. -Don't know how anyone would've missed this going out the door, except every gunmaker was too busy pushing guns out to make $$$. One small spring and problem solved.

I thought from your original posting that this problematic shotgun was a remmy Marine Mag? Do you have 2?

Nightwatch What are the rules for owning guns in NYC? I didn't think there were any shops in the city.

In NYC, there is a rifle/shotgun permit system in place. A fee. Waiting period. Fingerprinting, etc.

Home permits only. Travel to a range is permitted (Calverton range for me). Ammo locked and divided from firearm. In other words, its a pain in the#$% and one of the most unconstitutional places in the U.S.

My experience with gun shops in the city are not good. They are not friendly to non-law enforcement. Next gun I purchase will be in a shop in Miniola L.I. called "MBI". Excellent service and super friendly. They are in the links section of my site, if you are in the NYC area. http://www.nycasa.com/

The action was as smooth as butter, this one wasnt.
My old express is smooth as butter, and it took some shooting to achieve that. My new Police - going on two years old now - was far grittier feeling that express when new. You simply may be caught up in Big Green's QA?QC problems with their newer wares...
